This is difficult critique for me to write as Christos has provided excellent service and fantastic food since it opened. I have dined at Christos dozens of times over nearly three decades and usually have a great experience. This evening started out the same, enjoying our wine and the complementary bread. Shortly after we ordered, a family with a toddler was placed in the center of the dining room and inches from our table. For the next 45 minutes, the time it took us to shovel down our food and leave, the child continued to shriek intermittently. Pretty much disrupting our enjoyment of the meal since that was now the focus of the evening. We mentioned it to the manager who informed us there was nothing he could do. Since there was an empty overflow room available, his response was vacant. Our goal for dining at Christo's this evening was to purchase a gift card for a friend and enjoy a nice evening at an upscale Italian restaurant. The disruption forced us to eat quickly and leave, without buying the gift card. Even Denny's has a separate area for small children. When I am paying $40 or more per entree', I expect a quiet and enjoyable environment. When we informed our waitress, we would be leaving, she insisted we choose two commentary desserts to take with us, which was a nice gesture. Since this was the first time this has happened in dozens of visits over the years, I will probably give them another chance since the food is good. This episode makes me question the management staff and how they might handle some other disturbance in the future. For now, in my mind, this restaurant has moved from fanstatic to not quite adequate.
