This was my fourth trip here and first one with my husband. It was my birthday, so, our two hour drive for a concert was preceded by dinner at this restaurant. I previously had been so enamored with this little place and this was the first time I had eaten indoors. All other times had been in their outside dining area. I ordered the beans and greens, as I have always ordered, as an appetizer. I normally salt a lot of my food, but, found ALL the food I had that night was tremendously salty. I also was told that there wasn't a wine list, but, "what kind of varietal did I want?" It was odd to hear this, because, there were three other tables that asked for wine and it seemed evasive that there was not a list. Also, the table next to me asked for beer, and the host rattled off three beers and that was it....it was very odd. Why no list for beer or wine?
Anyway, back to the meal: I had instant heartburn from either the dipping sauce for the bread or the beans and greens, which set the tone for my meal. The garlic used in their dishes is the jarred kind, which is potent, pungent and overpowering, and they use an unnecessary amount of it!!!! My husband had a pasta dish that had angel hair pasta in it. It was okay, although, I could see the oil it was swimming in. I had a pappardelle with a light cream sauce with mushrooms. The flavor was overpoweringly garlic; again with that minced jarred garlic. This is a gigantic pet peeve of mine. The bread was also slathered with it. The Torta della Nonna, which I've always wanted to try for dessert, they are always "out" of. I'm beginning to think that its just on the menu for the looks! I think this is my last trip here, even though I have always had good service, and good appetizers.
