From the moment of walking through the door, everything was a pleasant surprise, with the exception of a less than conversable teenage hostess.
Upon taking a seat at the bar before before taking our seats in the dining room, we were quickly greeted by the bartender and the manager. Both of these experiences were delightful and informative of the array of offerings. I’m looking over the cocktail list, we were both wanting something a little different than what was printed. The manager did a fantastic job of asking several questions to discover what flavor profiles we were seeking and thus resulted in being served a drink called “the last word”, and it truly was exactly what we needed to end our busy day and start a nice relaxing dining experience.
Given our level of hunger and following the philosophy that one isn’t required to eat everything on one’s plate, we had a variety of appetizers.
The soup of the day was a clam and crab chowder and I would rate it a 4.75 out of 5. The smoked bacon was a tad thick but the flavor was perfect, also a 4.75. Lastly, we had the shrimp cocktail with an extra side of horseradish. This was a solid 5.
Next came the salad, we went with the frozen fork Caesar. The greens were crisp and cold which made the salad amazing, I generally prefer a lesser anchovy profile and this was a little strong for me but that’s personal preference. Nonetheless, I give it a 4.5. As for the main course, we both shared a small filet and I would rate it one of the best in the Tulsa area. It was seared perfectly and cooked to perfection in the middle of the cut. The flavor was wonderful and the texture was nothing less than perfect. We also had the Mushroom and Truffle Gemeli. My only complaint with this dish coincides with the hour in which we dined and that goes against a cardinal rule of dining late. The dish was slightly undercooked but that fault lies on us. Overall, I still give this place a solid 5 out of 5. Do yourself a favor and go ASAP!
