Cognoscenti is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar nestled in the Dandenong Ranges, 50 minutes from the CBD.

Dine with us and be treated to exquisite food and intimate service, while exploring our carefully curated selection of local and international wines. We are passionate about cooking with local, seasonal produce in our wood-fired oven; celebrating the simplicity of each ingredient.

    We can accomodate larger groups up to 12 guests. Our Chef’s Menu is required for all group 7+ guests. The menu offers a selection of entrées, main, sides and dessert for the table to share.     From the moment we walked in, the experience was fantastic. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. The staff were attentive and made our evening extra special with 2 little cakes with a written message in chocolate Happy Anniversary. The food is excellent .

    We enjoyed our dinner there today. We had duck liver pate as entree, Thursday steak special with comes with red wine & chips, and passionfruit crème brûlée. Also because it was our wedding anniversary they gave us free madeleines. The food & service were all good, and steak was cooked on point. I would love to go back again.

    Could not ask for a better dining experience, 5 stars across board. One of the little gems in the Belgrave are.

    Every meal we have enjoyed here has been absolute perfection. Tonight was no exception. The special New Year's menu was well thought out and beautifully prepared. Service was excellent, too. Happy New Year!

    Excellent food and wine, as was the service. Lovely relaxing atmosphere. We were given a table for 2 as requested at booking in a quiet spot. Also lucky to stumble on Golden hour 5-6 juts after seeing our movie next door at Cameo with a lovely $10 sparkling to start and half price oysters.
