You enter the restaurant, great aesthetics; especially the bar area. Maître D on point A+.
The restaurant is very echoey and loud . Pretty much impossible to hold a conversation unless you’re upon each other.
It took over 15 minutes for any server to come by at all at even for the water service .
After the server came by, she was lovely and efficient . The food was especially underwhelming. I was recommended this spot because of the superb food.
We had the Morel mushrooms that were the smallest I’ve ever seen for big money.
we also had the escargot which was nothing to speak of , again, tiny, tiny portions. I could make this dish in my kitchen from a can of snails at twice this level.
My date had the beet salad. She says it was great but again I’d say the portion was less than 1/2 of a cup. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not looking for a Cheddar’s type of portion.
I ordered the chicken with mustard sauce on entrée, again it was overpowered by whole grain mustard . I have been to France 25+times., this was almost inedible.
We both had one cocktail , one champagne for her, and two glasses of Pinot Noir for me.
The bill was $217, prior to the tip,
for $265 I would rather go to Pepp & Delores Abigail Street or Sotto TWICE.
In addition, the music in this already loud establishment was way too high in volume. The kitchen staff jamming should be secondary to the customers comfort.
I wasn’t really looking for a screaming disco with triple the price for mediocre French cuisine. Boca would have been five times as polished, and a less expensive by far.
I am thrilled to see new restaurants in Cincinnati. I hope this restaurant can find their true north and revamp the menu and service. Sounds like a job for the management and or ownership.
Oh, by the way, the bread service was four dollars for the bread and $16 for the butter. Are you kidding? The French government mandates that a baguette cannot exceed one euro.
