We visited on 10 November as a party of 4. Firstly the waitress had the wines written on a scrappy piece of paper and didn’t know what the soup of the day was !! Surely if you only have limited wines it wouldn’t take much to print on a piece of paper and be able to give to customers to peruse? To also not be aware of the soup of the day!!
We had a voucher which included a glass of fizz, i gave the waitress the codes for both vouchers, it took until she started to clear our starter dishes that we had to ask for our fizz.
The timing between courses was approximately 30/40 minutes, there was one table of a single person having a cream tea, and one other couple having hot food, I dread to think how long food would take if you were busy, because you certainly had enough staff floating around.
When it came to paying the bill which I may add was brought without delay, I again had to show the codes for the vouchers.
We re-booked as we had received similar service last year and thought we would give it another go, I sincerely hope that the new owners improve on the training of staff and the chef improves their timings.
I would add that the food was very good, but people do always talk about their bad experiences and this was the second same experience with this restaurant.
We felt quite embarrassed as we were taking my sister and brother in law out to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, and to spend 3 hours (14.00-16.50) for a lunch is incredible.
I await your response
Kind regards
Julie Coles
