It tough to leave a review like this bc I wanted this experience to be good but it wasn’t great, for valid reasons. So no hate on them (except price lol).
If you’re expecting a high class restaurant, I’ll stop ya there. Day to day, The Columbia Club is not a restaurant. It is a Club people pay for to bring clients, hold personal, private meetings, and maybe have lunch or a drink there.
What they do on events like this is try their best to transform the club into a romantic setting which is incredibly hard to do if that is not your typical agenda. So what ends up happening is you get a lot of under qualified servers, lack of preparedness overall, and unfamiliarity with how a fine dining experience should go.
My girlfriend and I have been to just about all the “boujee” restaurants in Seattle/bellevue area and find that spending 300-400+ should net you a really good experience. For reference, the last time we went to canlis we spent just over 450 after tip. Last night we ended up spending $485 and the food was aggressively average, the service was on par with…well… a corporate lounge, and the music was pretty loud especially for us who were sat right next to the speakers.
I’d say for 150-200 it would have been fine. But for 485 it was very poor. 2.5/10 experience. No hate on any of the staff bc they are not fine dining employees but maybe the Columbia Tower Club should rethink their prices bc the advertised wagyu steak they severed was not wagyu. The caviar was really bad. And the lighting was so bright all you could see out the windows was your reflection.
Overall, we ended up getting 2 of the pre-decided 4 course meals, 2 drinks, and 2 spoons of caviar. It was $485.
Thanks to all the staff but I would not go back.
