Very average food. My fish and chips was tasteless and whilst the prices were fine dining, the food was disappointing. The restaurant is all hard surfaces and though in booking notes I asked for a quiet table, we were put right beside a loud table of 4 ladies and asked to be moved. There were only 3 tables occupied at that time. Service was good but although I said No 3 times to a large bottle of sparking water, it arrived and was poured anyway. The server was a little over eager and overpowering. He asked if we were enjoying our meal before we’d touched it but he was trying. It’s a tough business to make a success of but all these things are within their control. Perhaps these are teething problems and hopefully they’ll be resolved.

We had a lovely evening in Cookes. The food was really very good and service was attentive and friendly. It’s hard to reconcile our experience with the negative reviews.

Starters were really great and the mains very good too. Wine choice is good and the service excellent and it was pretty good value for money. The restaurant was pretty empty though so the ambiance wasn't great but I would certainly recommend Cooke's.

Cookes in Dundrum Shopping Centre is a beautiful restaurant with great ambience and wonderful food. The service is very friendly and excellent. It is a little bit hard to find but just go out of the main shopping area past House of Fraser go straight on past Joes and go in doorway to Harvey Nics and take lift to first floor. Once you do it once it’s easy and very well worth it. Cocktail bar great too.

Food is decent. Nothing exceptional but right for the price point. Trouble is no one knows the restaurant is there so it was empty. And I'm not exaggerating. We were the only table at 8pm on Saturday. Eventually 2 more tables came in. It was odd and worrying that this place won't be there much longer. Needs a much more obvious sign on the building and lots of advertising. Also needs some niche / differentiator.

We went for the pre-theatre menu on Saturday evening and it was fantastic - very good size portions (in particular the calamari starter and chicken main) and lovely service. The food is delicious, couldn't fault it. It's a gorgeous room, just wish it was busier and more of a buzz. The early bird is great value. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Unfortunately I was disappointed with the experience in Cookes. The girl who was looking after us was lovely and very accommodating given some of the party were half an hour late arriving. Our table was booked for 3.30pm and a couple of the party arrived at 4pm when the kitchen closes. The waitress was excellent and nothing was an issue and got the orders in. So for that I would say the service was great. However her colleague and what seemed like a manager was not very nice at all. He was contradictory and started pressuring us. The food was average -the calamari was dry and not particularly tasty. The chicken liver parfait was good. The Beef Carpaccio just ok. Three of the group had chicken ceasar salad, which again was just ok. Nothing to write home about. We also had two bottles of prosecco, 4 single glasses , 1 desert and a cheese board. The bill was over €250 for this which we all felt was quite pricey for what we had and the quality. Essentially we paid €50 per head for one main course and some prosecco as the calamari, parfait and carpaccio were shared between two people. Overall somewhat disappointing!
