Dynamic Takes on Modern Traditions. Copper Bar is one of Kohala Coast’s favorite dining and gathering places. Casual, creative tapas and entrees incorporate locally grown ingredients and are easily paired with a selection of craft cocktails, locally-brewed beers, and wine. The positive part of my review, the food was good. The negative part of my review, the place was maybe half full and we were sat in the very back corner of the restaurant by ourselves. You know it’s bad when the MOD comes over and jokes about getting us our own fan and tells us we won’t have to worry about construction dust. I don’t even think our server realized we were his table. My fault… I should have asked to be seated elsewhere, so that we could feel like we were part of the restaurant. Would I go back? 50/50

Dining at Copper Bar may have been our favorite dining experience on the Big Island! The setting was outstanding with the sunsetting and snorkeled heading out to see the manta rays. The service was outstanding. Our server was warm, knowledgeable, attentive. We loved the music and the beautiful, talented hula dancer made it extra special.

The hotel is under a major renovation, which we were not aware of until we got there. The noise from the construction crew continued on throughout the dinner hour, making it almost impossible to hold a conversation. The restaurant manager clearly sympathized with us, and he told us he had asked the hotel manager to have them stop, but that didn’t happen while we were there. He did comp two starters, which was appreciated. We’ve eaten here in prior years and had a positive experience, but not this time. We won’t be going back, at least not during this visit.

I wanted to give a higher rating but our waitress really dropped the ball. We requested bread and it took 25 minutes to get it. In the meantime my husband's appetizer got cold. The manager did step in and offered free dessert. We will go back and anticipate that we will have better service.

We chose the Copper Bar because of its many gluten free options. We ordered two appetizers, as well as entrees. The appetizers never came, and no one checked on us before our entrees were served. The food was good. We enjoyed the butterfish, and our grandson enjoyed his sushi. I don’t know where the communication problem occurred, but the missing items were removed from our bill. We enjoyed the view and the food, but I’m not sure we’d return. Better service would help.

My husband and I dined during sunset and had a lovely experience. I had read a number of reviews complaining about poor service that I very nearly cancelled my reservation. Nothing could be further from the truth. The dinners was served within a reasonable time period. We were allowed to enjoy the courses, the sunset and the entertainment. It was a lovely evening!

We had sushi which was excellent. They have a more limited but everything we had was delicious. We had a white Spanish alberino wine and Malasada for dessert. Our server was excellent and very personable
