STARTERS

Brûlée Camembert
Caramelised cheese, grape chutney, walnuts and toasted sourdough baguette
Truffled Pumpkin Soup
Topped with pumpkin seeds and crumbled chestnuts, served with toasted sourdough baguette
Chicken Parfait Mille-Feuille
Our rich chicken liver parfait piped into thyme puff pastry slices with caramelised red onion chutney, alongside dressed julienned pears and a port reduction
Crab & Comté Rarebit
Comté cheese & white crab béchamel on toasted brioche, topped with samphire and drizzled with herb oil
Smoked Salmon Rillettes
Smoked Salmon Rillettes Creamy salmon rillettes layered on honey & mustard pickled beetroot. Topped with whipped horseradish cream, dill & lemon and served with seeded sourdough

MAINS

Roast Turkey Ballotine
Wrapped in smoked bacon with a chestnut & sage stuffing. Served with crispy confit potatoes, apricot & mustard-glazed Chantenay carrots, watercress, spiced honey pig in blanket and a shallot & thyme jus
Butternut Squash Tarte Tatin
Sage, salted caramel and red onion tarte tatin topped with whipped goatʼs cheese and toasted almonds, with a green salad
Grilled Sea Bream
On a bed of Champagne velouté sauce, braised fennel, tomato concassé, dill and crushed new potatoes
Sirloin (8oz)
Cut and prepared in the Côte butchery Served with crispy confit potatoes, black garlic jus and watercress. Recommended medium rare
Salt-Baked Celeriac
Grilled and topped with creamed wild mushrooms, confit shallots, crumbled chestnuts and a caper relish. Served with frites

Christmas Pudding Nougat
A frozen parfait filled with mixed fruit, almonds & brandy on a gingerbread crumb, topped with frosted redcurrants and mint
Clementine & Pistachio Mess
Crushed meringue tossed with pistachio & white chocolate ganache, spiced poached clementines, dried raspberries and a winter berry coulis. Topped with crushed pistachios
Brandy Butter Madeleines
Three warm butter madeleines, served with brandy butter and redcurrants. Contains alcohol
Warm Chocolate Fondant
Served with winter berry coulis, hazelnut tuile and cinnamon ice cream
Chocolate Praline Tart
With a berry coulis and vanilla ice cream

Pretty average, plates and glasses were dirty and the taps in the bathroom give out a dribble of water, nowhere near enough to even wet your hands properly never mind using soap. Main food was sub par - Cote du Boef was cool to the touch as were the fries. The tomato salad was freezing cold as though they’d only just come out of the fridge and all the sauces were also cold. People serving were nice and the French onion soup and crudités were good.

Excellent food enjoyed by all the company. Service good but a little slow. Great environment and marvellous to have a low ambient noise level.

We had to wait for 20 min to order while the restaurant was 20% occupancy. No fish plate available !! The quality of food that we order was poor

Such a lovely restaurant. The onion soup was cold so it was sent back by my dad to be warmed up, which seemed to cause an adverse reaction as the fish soup for main was overcooked so the mussels were shrivelled and the fish portion tiny. When my dad complained about it he was met with an argumentative waiter who told him that everything comes in fresh and pre-portioned. Given he was the one taking everyone out and will always thank people for their service and food he took the unique decision not to pay a tip. He asked whether it would happen next time again and the response unsatisfactory. Such a shame as it is a regular for him taking his grandchildren for a meal. I genuinely hope it was a one off but I’m not sure I want to risk finding out. He did receive a free bottle of wine voucher and those meals off of he price so they knew it did not go well.

more family oriented than couples, we asked for a quit table then then had a table if 5 young children put next to us ( the parents preferred to sit separately!) Service was very good but otherwise acceptable only.

We have been before and this was the first time we were not entirely happy. Upon arrival we were told that it was the first night of the new menu, so we were looking forward to trying the new dishes. I ordered the corn-fed marinated roasted half chicken, served with confit potatoes and a herb salad. However, what was presented did not match the description on the menu. The confit potatoes were roasted potatoes and the “salad” was a heap of raw parsley without any other ingredients, not even a dressing. When I pointed this out to the waitress/ lady in charge that night, she got quite defensive and insisted that this was in fact a herbal salad. She did not offer to replace it with an actual salad and we had to ask for it ourselves. I did not bother pointing out the roasted potatoes as this would have delayed my meal and my fellow diners already had their food. Furthermore we thought that she was not as enthusiastic and welcoming as other staff on other occasions. It all seemed a little bit of a chore to her. Too bad.

Cote Barnes is an excellent restaurant in the chain. The venue is wonderful especially if you look in to the Barnes pond. Staff are corteous and diligent in their service to the customers. We have never had a bad meal at the venue
