STARTERS

Brûlée Camembert
Caramelised cheese, grape chutney, walnuts and toasted sourdough baguette
Truffled Pumpkin Soup
Topped with pumpkin seeds and crumbled chestnuts, served with toasted sourdough baguette
Chicken Parfait Mille-Feuille
Our rich chicken liver parfait piped into thyme puff pastry slices with caramelised red onion chutney, alongside dressed julienned pears and a port reduction
Crab & Comté Rarebit
Comté cheese & white crab béchamel on toasted brioche, topped with samphire and drizzled with herb oil
Smoked Salmon Rillettes
Smoked Salmon Rillettes Creamy salmon rillettes layered on honey & mustard pickled beetroot. Topped with whipped horseradish cream, dill & lemon and served with seeded sourdough

MAINS

Roast Turkey Ballotine
Wrapped in smoked bacon with a chestnut & sage stuffing. Served with crispy confit potatoes, apricot & mustard-glazed Chantenay carrots, watercress, spiced honey pig in blanket and a shallot & thyme jus
Butternut Squash Tarte Tatin
Sage, salted caramel and red onion tarte tatin topped with whipped goatʼs cheese and toasted almonds, with a green salad
Grilled Sea Bream
On a bed of Champagne velouté sauce, braised fennel, tomato concassé, dill and crushed new potatoes
Sirloin (8oz)
Cut and prepared in the Côte butchery Served with crispy confit potatoes, black garlic jus and watercress. Recommended medium rare
Salt-Baked Celeriac
Grilled and topped with creamed wild mushrooms, confit shallots, crumbled chestnuts and a caper relish. Served with frites

DESSERTS

Christmas Pudding Nougat
A frozen parfait filled with mixed fruit, almonds & brandy on a gingerbread crumb, topped with frosted redcurrants and mint
Clementine & Pistachio Mess
Crushed meringue tossed with pistachio & white chocolate ganache, spiced poached clementines, dried raspberries and a winter berry coulis. Topped with crushed pistachios
Brandy Butter Madeleines
Three warm butter madeleines, served with brandy butter and redcurrants. Contains alcohol
Warm Chocolate Fondant
Served with winter berry coulis, hazelnut tuile and cinnamon ice cream
Chocolate Praline Tart
With a berry coulis and vanilla ice cream

Was here for my 30th today , good and service was great , few of my friends and including myself are planning on going back already :) Only negative , for a group booking of 12 , it was bit hard to get through the phone for enquiries over the week but apart from that everything else was great ,. Recommend it !

Delightful dinner for 4. Two of our party had Birthdays to celebrate and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. One of our party had food allergies and staff were very knowledgable and assuring with plenty of choice. We have a lovely evening and couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere or experience. Will definitely return. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful, but can’t remember any specific names. Such an enjoyable, relaxed evening with delicious food and wine.

This has to be one of my favourite Edinburgh restaurants. Table for 8 with inclusive Xmas menu. All guest thrilled with all three courses. Super environment in newly refurbished restaurant. Upstairs afforded plenty space for larger parties. Service second to none. Complementary dessert wine provided. Well done!

Another lovely trip to Cotes. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Food was tasty and I love there is not an issue with me being gluten free

Food is not bad but some ingredients were overcooked while others were undercooked. It is a French brasserie but the amount of butter used in cooking even the simplest sauce is way too much.

Having booked the restaurant in aug for a late nov meal, I was surprised to be offered only a table in the bar area with the excuse 'it's a rugby weekend and we are busy'. As I was there for the rugby I knew that which is why I booked early, and was expecting a table in the restaurant, not a chilly bar area. The starter of baked Camembert was warm but not hot. My steak, when it came 1hr 10 mins after ordering food, was so cold it wasn't melting teh garlic butter on top. Also the order did not come with the side dish I ordered. When I complained, I was immediately offered a fresh steak, and it duly came and was acceptable. The staff offered to remove the cost of the steak from the bill and offered a free glass of wine due to my inconvenience, both of which were accepted. However, eating in the bar area was not a great evening.

Terrible. We were a group of 9 who were forgotten . We waited 2 hours approx. for starters which were mixed up . The waiters were inexperienced and gave one persons starter to the whole table . After approximately 3 hours we approached the waiters and manager and spoke to them . When some of the mains came they were cold , not cooked or overcooked , with parts of order missing . i.e. Steak on its own no chips or veg ??? We sent food back and asked for the bill. Some of our party had virtually nothing to eat ! The manager was very apologetic and did not charge us for any of the food , we just paid for drinks . Unfortunately we didn’t have time to go anywhere else for food before our train so some of the party stayed hungry till we got home at 9pm . Disaster but I suppose they did try to make amends .
