Covino is a small owner-run wine bar & restaurant in the heart of Chester. We serve daily-changing menu of seasonally inspired small plates, guided by the quality and provenance of ingredients, with a real focus on simplicity and flavour. This is served alongside an extensive, yet thoughtfully chosen array of over 130 different wines from around the world, ranging from the classics, all the way through to the more left field.

Fantastic restaurant. The new resident chef is clearly very talented and all the staff are attentive and knowledgeable. A great experience all round.

Excellent place for superb choice of wines and delicious. Small plates , a lovely way too spend few hours grazing on super tasty food and sampling the fantastic wine choice. Service excellent and expert wine knowledge . The owner met us and felt like you’d been invited too share his own home as made you feel very welcome and explained the menu and introduced us too the guest chef . An extremely enjoyable experience

Lovely evening spent in Covino. New chef Harry Guy is only there for a couple of months so grab the opportunity to sample some delicious food whilst you can. Wine and service excellent as ever.

This is one of our favourite restaurants and a change of chef is always a gamble for the owner, new chef Harry Guy has introduced his fine dining take to the small plate dishes served, the quality and flavour’s on each dish were as good as they looked. Will we visit again - definitely

Didn’t manage to get to Chester and cancelled by email four hours before the 4-00pm booking. We were still charged £100 (2 people) for cancelling. We would have cancelled earlier but the phone number on the website is no longer used by the restaurant, which you only find out if you let it ring long enough for the recorded message to play. Very poor customer service. Will never book there again !

Food was lovely and staff pleasant. We booked a “table” and ended up on a sitting at a metal bar (like seating in a pub) Venue is tiny and there is a table and chair squashed into every inch of space which doesn’t create a pleasant place to dine. Couldn’t change your mind when you get there due to their £50 charge for cancelling. Booked with an Amex but couldn’t pay with one and couldn’t pay with cash luckily we had another card which I don’t normally carry. Dining out is more than just the food it’s the whole experience which is a shame because the food was different and high standard but the venue doesn’t do it just at all. We ate in our coats due to sitting on stools and no room, my partners umbrella and hand bag were on the bar with our food. We wouldn’t return

Chilled and relaxed atmosphere overall. We enjoyed what was served and recommended. Special thanks from our daughter for the nice grape fruit juice! We took our two years old, so for anyone with kids don't be shy and jump in to enjoy..just makes sure to get there early as space is limited and tight- chester space after all.
