We are a wine shop inside of a restaurant | Dining and design form the perfect union at San Diego's highly acclaimed CUCINA urbana, a California-inspired Italian kitchen and wine shop, located in the heart of Bankers Hill since 2009.

The restaurant boasts comfort and familiarity, welcoming diners to a country farmhouse with the added whimsy of a contemporary art installation.

CUCINA urbana is the originator of the CUCINA retail wine program where each dedicated shop allows guests to hand select wines at a retail price, either to enjoy with their meal for a minimal corkage fee or for purchase to-go. The wine list is comprised of many familiar labels as well as rare and small-batch gems, with an emphasis on Italian varietals.

    Cucina Urbana is always one of my favorite spots. Food is amazing, tried the octopus this time and the Mushroom pasta, it was great. They do have Austin hope wine as well which is a win win.

    The service was great, the food was mediocre. The lamb oso buco was served cold and was sort of flavorless. The ambiance was nice outside, It was quiet and they had heaters.

    Urbana is always a good choice as food and service are consistently on point. What made this visit Outstanding was our Server, Jason, who was terrific, couldn't ask for better and the MONTEPULCIANO wine was terrific and given its age a great value.

    Enjoyed a wonderful evening w/tasty appetizers, entrees, desserts, & wine. Our waiter Shawn was friendly, attentive, & gave us good suggestions.

    Fabulous Italian restaurant. Very good Steak Tartare. Outstanding pizza from woodfired oven, cooked to perfection. Outstanding service.

    This is our favorite restaurant for celebrating a special occasion. Last night we celebrated my husband’s birthday. We were all treated like VIPs, especially our 4 year old daughter. The food was delicious, service was personalized and we just love the atmosphere. Thank you for another wonderful dinner!
