Hailed as "The Best New NYC Restaurant of the Pandemic" by the NYC Post, Dagon is an exciting restaurant on Manhattan's Upper West Side that features cuisine from "somewhere in the Mediterranean." Named for the Phoenician and Philistine god of agriculture and the earth, the menu showcases modern Israeli cuisine with Levantine influences.

                                                              The food was very good. We ordered only a main course (lamb, beef brisket) and dessert. The main course portions were very small, especially for the price (~$40 each). The service was fine, but we were taken aback by the rapidity of the main course delivery (under 5 minutes from ordering). It was really quite a surprise, as we were still wondering if bread or some other prelude would arrive. The dessert ("Silan") was amazing. But its tremendous size was actually shocking! Especially compared to the size of the main course.

                                                              Dagon serves up delicious, creative and modern Israeli and Mediterranean dishes in an upbeat yet elegant setting. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared. It’s our go-to when in the West 80’s or 90’s.

                                                              Nothing at all special about this place - no ambience, crowded, food is just fair, difficult menu choices. I wouldn’t go back.
