The restaurant is usually packed every time we drive by. Hey! we should go there and try it out was our thought on this evening. So we did. The ambiance of the restaurant was great. There was music playing throughout the restaurant at a noise level that you can easily converse without feeling like you are yelling over the music. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. The hostess seated us with food menus however she just laid down the bar menu without an explanation as to what they were. Our server was prompt and brought out our food in a timely fashion. My food was terrible while my guest food was "okay". The dish I ordered was the Cajun chicken/sausage/shrimp pasta. The chicken in my dish was not freshly grilled seasoned chicken nor was the shrimp. The chicken I was served tasted like it was boiled three days ago frozen and reheated without seasoning, just bland, tough, and rubbery. The entire dish was drowning in sweet Ragu sauce. There was no smokey Cajun spice to the dish at all. To add insult the dish was garnished with Texas toast, not homemade herb buttered Texas toast but the kind you get from Walmart in a box from the freezer isle. A huge thumbs down. Why they didn't use the fresh sliced french baguette that was brought to the table while we waited for our food as the bread for the garlic bread blows my mind. I would recommend the most basic Cajun spice recipe ( 1 part cayenne pepper, 1 part garlic powder, 1 part onion powder, 1 part paprika, 1 part salt, 1 part pepper, pinch of chili powder for smoke flavor, mix together and season meat and sauce liberally) and a fresh garlic spread recipe (minced garlic, butter, italian seasoning, salt and pepper-mix in a bowl and spread on the bread- toast for 4-7 minutes) Instead of Ragu sauce use heavy cream, a dollop of tomato paste and chicken broth for the sauce. I should have cook at home this night! We wont be back.
