We have two types of Dining Experiences... PLANCHA DINING (Where our Chefs cook at your table) and STANDARD DINING.

Descanso will bring a contemporary taqueria that blends traditional Mexican recipes with modern influence. Created by Rob Arellano, the concept draws inspiration from his Mexican heritage, offering a unique and nostalgic dining experience. You'll witness skilled chefs prepare authentic Mexican dishes at your table in a lively setting, immersing you in the ambiance of a bustling Mexican town. Led by Chef Jose Angulo, Descanso serves Central West Mexican street-inspired cuisine, featuring fresh bold flavors and seasonal ingredients. Our dishes are rich in history and flavor, reflecting traditional Mexican cuisine.

With the restaurant not being fully opened yet, this restaurant has a lot of potential. The flavor of the food is immaculate. The ambiance of the restaurant is stellar. The Plancha chef, Gavin, is an amazing chef. The service can be improved on—my group noted that our server, Pat, delayed service or rushed service (delay in taking orders, rushed to take food plates away while the food is still in front of us) Pat is a nice guy but I think he get nervous with big groups & just needs more time but he’s nice Note: any group that is larger than 6, will have a mandatory 20% gratuity. Would I come back? Yes, if I am in the area.

Came with my boyfriend for New Year’s Eve and had such a great time! 10/10 recommend and will absolutely be coming back!

Incredible NYE at Descanso. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and, as we arrived early for our reservation, we sat at the bar for a pre dinner cocktail. We didn’t feel rushed to finish these drinks and it set a great tone for the rest of the evening. I’m very fussy with cocktails and pleased to say the 2 types of margaritas I tried were incredible! Highly recommend the spicy one! We ordered chips and guacamole and fish tacos appetizers. For entrees, we went for the steak quesadillas, short rib estofado and steak alambra. Desserts (yes, we went the full 3 courses!) we chose the cheesecake and mango crème brulee (highly recommend!). Everything we ordered was delicious! The building itself is stunning. Such beautiful interiors and a truly great addition to the area. We’ll definitely be back (a lot!) and can’t wait to try the Plancha grill!

I believe this restaurant opened not too long ago, but the waitress or waiter I didn’t know which it was had a lot to learn, they never really told us their name, never came back to take the order until we ask if we could place an order and it took forever to get four simple drinks. The food was so so. I had the quesadillas which were really small and the flavor wasn’t the greatest and for the amount of food you got, it’s definitely overpriced. Then again, I think that’s all of California.

This is a lovely big space with lots of potential. The food doesnt quite meet that potential. A carne asada main course was a little tough and underseasoned. Parking was $5 even with validation.

Overall it’s a nice restaurant with good service. However the food is ok and the prices are outrageous. I paid $15 for a single taco. $15 for guacamole. For a similar price point I would rather go to Javier’s. One thing that I really did not like was being charged for chips and salsa. It was only $5 but that is a stable free item if any Mexican restaurant.

The Carnitas entree comes with nothing more than the pork. It’s nice to have rice and beans with Mexican meals. The Lobster tacos were over cooked and the lobster was tough. The renovated restaurant was very lovely. Too bad the food does not hold up.

I enjoyed the food but staff is new and more about the place in Mexico then here in Los Angeles but we were all disappointed that they gutted the beautiful space where we all spent time in frequently

Descanso was a delight. We opted for regular dining (versus la plancha) and the food was fresh, hot and delicious. It arrived family style, which is what we requested. The plates were much more interesting beyond the usual taquerita offerings. We split two apps, a carnitas entree and a Coco tres leche cake that was amazing! Our waiter (whose name escapes me, but he wore glasses) was attentive, friendly and informative and was right on the ball while we were there. We had told him that we were off to the El Rey to see a show after dinner, and he made sure that we were ready to go in plenty of time without rushing us. Would definitely dine with them again!

I’ve been by here twice - haven’t friend the plancha experience but the happy hour and regular menus are amazing! Chips and salsa are divine freshly made - the tacos are great we had chicken - al pastor and steak they were all delish - they make fresh blue corn tortillas and corn tortillas We tried margaritas and espresso martini’s they were fabulous- the bartender is brilliant The flan and panne cotta were off the charts - I will be back to try more!
