Voted Best New Restaurants "Class of 13" by New Orleans Magazine. Desi Vega is the restaurateur of Desi Vega's Steakhouse and Mr. John's Steakhouse. Both restaurants are consistently outstanding and locals' favorite place to "see and be seen." Desi grew up in the restaurant business and was groomed by Ella Brennan at Commander's Palace, Ruth Fertel of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Emeril Lagasse. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence makes for a truly memorable dining experience. Our USDA Prime steaks are carefully selected, hand-cut and aged for tenderness, then seared to perfection and served on a sizzling plate. We hope you'll visit to see for yourself!

Dress code is Proper Business. Please kindly remove all baseball caps when entering our Dining Room.

    The visit began with being asked to step aside as they prepared our table, while seating other patrons who arrived after us. As there is no waiting area this subject us to annoyed looks from wait staff as we tried to make ourselves as unobtrusive as possible, and when we moved into the bar area to wait, patrons seemed annoyed to have us hovering. When we were finally seated we were not given menus, and when they finally came with drink lists we were then abandoned without service for some 10 minutes as we watched every table around us receive service. When the blessing of a server appeared, and we asked for menus, we were subject to a condescending educational statement, “Once you order drinks you are given a menu,” as though we had never been to a restaurant in our lives. We finally placed our order, and when our bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer arrived we took first bites and the bacon was sickeningly burnt. We asked if the dish could please be remade, and a manager who admitted he never even looked at the dish then came back and gaslit us saying the chef says it was perfectly prepared. Indeed if burnt shrimp is your jam, it was perfect. After witnessing this debacle the other server in the area Adrian asked if our burnt shrimp was being remade, and we advised no, and explained what happened. After so advising, Adrian disappeared to address the kitchen and his colleague emerged with two new shrimp (apparently we had to take it on the chin for the two burnt ones that turned our stomachs). The drama didnt end there, our main courses emerged and beautiful lobster tails were cooked beyond all recognition into strips of leather. Indeed the “butter poaching” was rather a vicious butter drowning during which innocent lobster lives were sacrificed in vain because they were inedible. They also had the audacity to charge us full price for this debacle - a grossly overpriced disaster in every respect except Adrian the sole competent person in the establishment got the one star

    Darryle was a great host. Very attentive and always was making sure I had a good time. Lamb chops were lacking taste, they were high on condiments (specially pepper), as a Caribbean, I was not enjoying the taste. For a $75 plate, it was not worth it. The waiters were the best I have seen by far in any restaurant.

    Our servers never told us any of the specials, including the soup. It did not give us our complementary meatball and we waited way too long to get our steaks, which were overcooked.
