All of our dining will be either 6.30 or 7.00pm starts, unfortunately we will not be able to offer any later tables.

Our Adult only fine dining restaurant has been awarded two rosettes by the AA for the quality of our food.

We aim to host the majority of our summer and early autumn dining, alfresco in our newly built under cover outside dining experience in the garden. IMPORTANT ! when booking during this period please note, dining maybe inside or outside and will be weather dependent and whilst we understand that some of you may book with us to experience the outside booths, on the night should the weather becomes extreme, we unfortunately may need to move the dining experience inside. .

PLEASE NOTE DRESS CODE IS SMART CASUAL FOR DINNER:
SORRY NO CHILDREN OR DOGS ALLOWED

    Enjoy a Three Course Lunch whilst listening to live Jazz from Suffolks Very own Olivia Castle. Currently based in Thornton, Olivia has worked with a fair few big names notably the late Sir Michael Parkinson. Cancellations with less than one week’s notice will incur a charge of the full per head menu price. This charge also applies to reductions in cover numbers as well as full cancellations.

    My wife and I stayed over in Southwold for the 2025 Valentine's weekend weekend and paid a return visit to Sutherland House. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was very very warm. Andy greeted and engaged with us very quickly and made us feel comfortable and looked after. We were really pleased to meet Kinga too later on, when she made a point of coming to see all of the guests individually, to make sure they were happy, and they were! Side note - the whisky collection was impressive :0) We had a wonderful time there and highly recommend Sutherland House. Thanks Andy, Kinga and team! Adrian and Ewa, Cambridge.

    A Valentines dinner with my husband. The owner Andy Rudd is an old school friend of mine and we have been here several times over the years for both lunch and dinners Kingas menus are inciteful and exciting, the food is beautifully presented and exceptionally tasteful. A wonderful ambiance, in a not oversized restaurant and Andy & his staff are always on hand to offer insight into the food and wine. One strict rule no looking at your phone unless you’re taking pictures of your party or the food which I totally agree with. The prices are what you would expect for the area and the quality of the food. It’s ideal for special occasions Ignoring the fact that the owners are friends I would not hesitate to recommend Sutherland House to anyone visiting the area

    Food was nice however the man who runs this place with his wife made the experience uncomfortable with several comments that were inappropriate. Strange vibe.

    We came to a Sunday Jazz lunch and had a wonderful time. The singer made the meal an additional pleasure as the food was delicious (as always) and we had a really good time - rounded off with a splendid malt whisky! What more could one want for a Sunday lunch!

    We have visited Southwold usually once a year every year for many years. One of the reasons for the visit is to dine at Sutherland House! That says it all really. Our favourite restaurant. Fabulous everything including the host. Thanks Andy. Long may it continue.
