The food and service just great. Knowledge of our wine host was spot on and the dessert was a gorgeous surprise - the yoghurt icecream was soooo yum. Well done

Overall nice place to eat. The amount of food to be shared felt miniscle. Sadly our main meal also was not impressive .. lamb was soo dry, salad, what salad ? We were dates under a skylight .. the sun did move aroznd .. but we toasted in thr middle of thr day. Surely this has happened to others .. possibly put a blind up on it at times of full sun? Then we were moved to a walled area, felt segregated .

I had high hopes for our dinner at Diplomat, especially given the occasion—a special weekend for the engagement of myself and my partner. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. First, I want to acknowledge the staff, who were clearly under-staffed and handling a lot. Despite this, they did their best to accommodate us and even offered a complimentary drink, which was a nice gesture. However, the service and overall experience were overshadowed by the long wait and the average quality of the food. We waited a full hour before receiving our first course, which meant we didn’t get our first food until 8:30 PM. This lengthy wait was incredibly frustrating and, quite frankly, unnecessary for a relatively simple two-course set meal. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. The quality felt more in line with a lower-end restaurant, which was a stark contrast to the expectations I had for a place with Diplomat’s reputation. For the price, it didn’t feel like good value at all. The extended wait made the experience even less enjoyable, and I left feeling let down, especially considering this was a special occasion. While I have no complaints about the staff’s effort or their direct service, the overall experience, from the wait time to the meal itself, just didn’t meet the mark. Given the price and the overall letdown, I’m not sure I’ll be returning anytime soon. It's unfortunate, but I was hoping for much more from what should have been a memorable evening.

I opted for a two-course meal, starting with a light entree (prawns) that was beautifully presented and full of fresh, vibrant flavors. But the real highlight was the main course: a chicken dish that was nothing short of spectacular. The chicken was cooked to absolute perfection—juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. Beyond the delicious food, the service was fantastic. Our server was attentive and ensuring our glasses were always full. staff were professional with a friendly warmth that made the experience feel personal and welcoming. Overall, it was a truly delightful evening. Highly recommended!

The dinners were very good. We had the 3-course meal with a delicious beetroot salad, mushroom risotto, and yummy sticky date pudding. The service was nice; because the restaurant is on the lower floor of the atrium area, there wasn't a lot of ambiance. However, the tasty dinners were the stars of the evening.

We were a large group of 24 people seated at three different tables. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The steak, in particular, was cooked to perfection and highly praised. It is not always easy to cater for a large group but the staff handled this easily and with aplomb. We were staying at the Ramada Diplomat Hotel for two nights and enjoyed dinner at the Diplomat Bar and Grill for two nights, also breakfast each morning. Happy Hour was great and bar staff very good. We are already planning our next visit to this excellent hotel in Canberra.

The meal was delicious, the barramundi was cooked to perfection. Only thing we didn’t like was how cold the restaurant, the heating was set to 15 degrees & the staff said they couldn’t turn it up. I’ll be back when it starts warming up.
