We have previously praised the Dog and Pheasant having had lovely Sunday lunches with family and as a couple but sadly our last two experiences were poor. we went for Sunday lunch and were seated by the door to the toilets, and upstairs seating area, with a constant tread of staff and diners so we moved to an adjacent table which had been vacant at the time. The roasts when they arrived were underwhelming, non crispy roast potatoes obviously warmed up, with a poor choice of hard vegetables consisting of mostly cabbage, and a couple of unpeeled carrots it did not represent past meals enjoyed there. The waiter was obviously over loaded with tables and seemed harassed although polite and friendly, we looked at the dessert menu, we had been told 3 items were finished, so ordered stick toffee pudding he took the order then came back and informed us that this was also finished asking us if we wanted any other dessert I politely mentioned that only ice cream was on! which we declined on a cold day, but we heard other staff offering people dessert and then telling them each item was finished as they requested it. we got the bill to find that we had been charged for a non served pudding! complete shambles and they had the audacity to charge 10% service, should have removed it but not the poor lads fault who served us. This showed a lack of management, they had later diners and maybe had held dishes back for them. we wiould hesitate to return it was not a nice experience.
