yesterday, me and my boyfriend headed here with high expectations as we heard the yorkville location is very good. following up to getting seated, we only got checked up on after 20 minutes to order. our server kept going to check up on the tables around us though ? anyways, after we ordered we went with the $30 per person roman nights.
our server (not her fault, probably trained to do this) was explaining how your breads were perfected and super soft etc but when we got our meals… it was the total opposite. for the roman nights meal you get to pick one appetizer and one pasta out of the three options given. we picked the ‘suppli cacio e pepe’ + ‘crostini con burro e alici’ as our appetizers. our bread literally came out half burnt and it was so bad that the crust still smelt burnt after we finished eating the middle part.. we had to leave the crust because it was that burnt. then, for the main dishes we picked ‘bucatini cacio e pepe’ + ‘rigatoni all’amatriciana.’ both of our pastas seemed uncooked? it was partially hard and oh my god, my boyfriend’s plate (rigatoni all’amatric.) was even worse! im not sure what came with the pasta, seemed like meat or something but that was totally hard. we finished our plates because well… we paid like $80 and we were so hungry but we wouldnt come back. the only reason why i gave it another store is because the grocery store was really nice and tbh, we’d rather eat outside the resturaunt and get the little sandwiches from the grocery store + their dessert. their pastas are something i can make at home. they are so plain!
also, the tables to both our sides (left & right) ordered AFTER us. 10-15 minutes after us on the right & the left literally got SEATED after us but they got their food before us? this was a very disappointing experience. wish she acknowledged us more .. im usually not one to leave a low rating but this is truly upsetting. hope shes not too upset about how little we tipped her. theres better restaurants @ don
