A warm welcome to Ekstedt at The Yard, located inside Great Scotland Yard Hotel.

Our flagship restaurant brings Michelin starred chef Niklas Ekstedt's signature style of wood fired ‘old Nordic’ cooking to the UK for the very first time. Ekstedt at The Yard focuses on Scandinavian cooking techniques using the very best seasonal British ingredients, featuring a menu of signature dishes, alongside an inventive cocktail menu and extensive wine list. The open kitchen, which feels like an extension of the restaurant floor, allows diners to sit at the heart of the action.

    Christmas Eve is the celebration of celebrations in Sweden! When hunger sets in, it’s time to gather around the buffet-style ‘julbord’ for a Christmas smorgasbord that offers the full medley of Swedish Christmas food. With everything from Swedish meatballs, pork sausage, homemade liver pate, julskinka (their Christmas ham), sill (pickled herring), salmon with mustard sauce, and including the delicious classic ‘Ris a la Malta’, a vanilla rice pudding served with orange slices. Price includes a glass of mulled wine on arrival and a glass of ‘mumma’ (a Swedish Christmas drink that is a blend of lager, stout, madeira and gin).

    Booked for our anniversary and Staff lovely and made us feel special. Booked as interested in the ethos but did find the food disappointing. Highlights were the tartar, bread and butter ( simple things done well) and the chocolate Pettit four. Mostly food cool and all meat chewy not melting. Did wine pairing and expensive but did work well.

    Really nice food. Tasting menu came at a nice pace. Wine paired well with the food. All staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful!

    Nice experience of nordic food with British touch. Italian head chef executed brilliantly and he was very welcoming. service was excellent with a combination of warmth and kindness. Food was excellent and balanced. wine pairing on point. Deserves more than a nomination in the Michelin guide. well done!

    We really enjoyed our Skandinavian Experience. The food, wine, service, and kitchen visit were all excellent. We were celebrating our son’s birthday and it was perfect. I would definitely recommend a visit.

    Ekstedt delivered a fine dining experience with a twist. We ate at the chef's high-top table from which we could see what makes Ekstedt unique, the cooking over open birch fires and in a wood fired oven, as well as the meticulous assembly of dishes for service using tools that would not have been out of place in an operating theatre. Indeed the contrast between using blacksmith-like wrought iron tools, such as the flambadou -- a cone-shaped iron ladle heated to red-hot in coals and used to drip melted beef fat on oysters in a fiery display -- with precision plating is what make both the flavours and experience memorable. The juniper smoked venison and the cep mushroom soufflé with woodruff and blueberries were particularly excellent. I will be back!
