Nestled high above LoHi on the fifth floor of 2930 Umatilla, El Five boasts spectacular, unobstructed views of the downtown Denver skyline. The menu is an homage to the Mediterranean and features small plates built on bold flavors found throughout the region: Spain, North Africa, the Middle East.

Inside, the space is understated and sensual, flanked by a large, open-air patio for sun-kissed Colorado nights. As the newest restaurant in the Edible Beats family, El Five celebrates the confluence of flavors, ideas and geographies made possible by a subtle shift in perspective.

You are not going to learn anything new from my review aside from the fact that if you haven't been exposed to this type of cuisine then you are likely going to be in love. The rest you know, high level production design on the interior, one of the best views of Downtown Denver, and a very specific yet eclectic mix of food and drinks... It leans very Spanish paella), Moroccan (lamb sausage), with some toe taps to the Middle East, and then a mega mix of all of those things (goat cheese croquettes). Recommendations include sitting outdoors in the Summer and catching a reservation around sunset. Good for groups, good for dates, I do not think that this place would be considered expensive by Denver standards for this type of restaurant.

Booked for two for my partner and I’s anniversary dinner last night. Booked the open reservation I found open for 9:3O pm. I short while before heading over I looked up directions and saw google maps indicated “closing soon”. This obviously was alarming. And I thought how strange they would have resie’s open to book so late if they would be closing shortly after. With no other good options I figured let’s stick to the game plan and hope for the best. We sat down and I asked our server if we are to late to order a full Meal and will be rushed out and she reassured us no. Fast forward the meal was great but after about 48 minutes after we sat down our server quickly came over and was extremely rude and when I expressed my displeasure she came back several times interrupting very intimate moments I was trying to share with my partner looking back at the past year. We would have happily sped up our eating or left to continue our conversation elsewhere had the proper communication been transmitted to us in anything resembling a polite interaction. Instead I ended up finishing my meal in a to go container because it was yanked from our table without asking. Meanwhile my partner at the desert she ordered after it was shoved in between us as we held hands across the table without an excuse me or anything. I was a server for 4 years in NYC. This service was in my opinion disgusting and will never come back to this place because of it. Communicate with your customers…it goes a long way.

All the dishes we had were absolutely delicious. Service was fast and they explained the food when they brought it out and everything that was in it. Wonderful time.

El Five is always exceptional but the food was superb tonight. Imagine being in a completely packed restaurant on a Monday night! It was lively and entertaining. I do wish there was a way to reduce the noise level but the meal was everything we hoped for and more!

A place for small plates to share. Great views of the city. Eclectic but yet amazing food. My favorite was the lamb shank. I could have eaten that as my entire meal. The seafood paella was great. My companions loved the matzo ball soup dumplings.

The highlight of our dinner was the location/ view and Crema Catalana! Display of Outstanding talent from the pastry chef. Was looking forward to Paella but unfortunately it was too salty, sea bass was great. Will be returning for the view, dessert and coffee in spring.
