Ellis Square Social is a neighborhood restaurant and craft cocktail bar located in historic Ellis Square, in the heart of downtown Beverly. Our Depression era building features a bustling dining room, with an authentic tin ceiling, reclaimed wood floor, period lighting, and tufted banquette, providing a warm and comfortable space for an evening out. Casual diners have the choice to seat at our beautiful cast pewter bar for a classic cocktail or craft beer as well as high tops around the bar and counter seating on the window overlooking Cabot Street. At Ellis Square Social, we believe in serving an outstanding home-made product in a sustainable and responsible way, while helping the local economy by buying from local producers.

Went with a group of friends for our book club dinner. The ambience was really nice and the noise level was low for our conversation making it perfect for a special night out on a date or with friends. Best of all, the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful! I had the pan seared chicken with smoked carrot risotto and others had the salmon. Everyone loved their meal and all agreed that we would love to return!

Excellent service, good, drinks and ambience. One of my top date night picks. Also fun for splitting an app with a friend at the bar. Top notch. With highly professional staff.

We were excited to enjoy ESS before a show at The Cabot. The service was good, although they seem to be VERY understaffed. The menu is somewhat limited so we were hopeful that the dishes would be sublime. Instead, our meals were bland in taste although gorgeous in presentation (we ordered 4 different meals and all 4 of us agreed: beautiful but bland). We’ll go back, and hope the crispy duck wings we once had there as a special make it onto the menu as a regular feature!

This was our third time dining there and we’ve had a consistently good experience each time. Great service, very good food & cocktails, and a lively atmosphere that still enables you to have a conversation.

We were there before a show but the restaurant wasn’t very busy or full yet the food took quite sometime to come out: two entrees and an app, coursed to come out together. The server couldn’t be bothered to attempt being polite and was borderline hostile. The food was good but the service definitely soured the experience.

Had reserved “bar seating” only which isn’t our go to in most situations. The bartender was pleasant and attentive on a busy Saturday. Patrons were mature and without issue. Overall a 4.5 on a scale of 1-5!
