This was our second time at Factory 51 and unfortunately the experience wasn't as good! We ordered the calamari fritte, baby cos lettuce and goats cheese salad, the white sausage pizza and panfried gnocchi with pancetta and lemon.
The calamari was pretty good! Really tender and the sauce was great. But, even with the lemon, it was really salty and some bites made us wince a little. The baby cos salad was a total miss to be honest, and I am usually a fan of goats cheese. It was really lacking flavour and cohesion. The gnocchi itself was pretty good, but the sauce/rest of it let us down. Maybe, we chose the wrong gnocchi dish, but we couldn't taste any of the truffle oil mentioned, and it was just a little too dry, with the pancetta a little too dark for our liking.
The pizza crust was as great as last time! But were the toppings just a little scarce? I understand that Italian pizzas aren't packed like Aussie pizzas are, but even so, it just made it really lacking, especially on white pizzas. It was more like eating bread than anything. It's great bread! But we were hoping for a pizza. Again maybe it was a poor menu choice again.
We might try other Italian restaurants after this experience. But last time was great! The grilled calamari salad they used to have was amazing! Too bad it was changed out.
Side note: Waitresses are always so bright and cheerful and try their best to make it a great experience. Kudos to them, they're the best! We were served by a girl with blonde space buns.
