   Saw billboards for Famous Dave's (George Dieter) when passing through El Paso, so I decided to stop in for some BBQ. I was alone and sat at the bar. The bartender and the beer were both exceptional, but the food was marginal at best. The usual sides (muffin, beans, slaw) were OK, but the BBQ itself was poor. The brisket was dried out, and the rib tips were mostly gristle and fat (minimal edible meat). The rib tips are hailed as one of the unique dishes here, but I found them to be uniquely bad. I've had much better BBQ almost anywhere else that I have eaten BBQ. I would recommend patronizing any other restaurant in this area rather than wasting your money and assaulting your taste buds here. (Maybe the other branches are better, but I'm not going to check them out.)
