I really don't like leaving reviews like this, but we didn't have the best experience on Saturday night.
We were seated in the stunning upstairs private room overlooking the restaurant (absolutely beautiful!), but due to the heat of the charcoal the window needed to be kept open, which lead to the smell of sewage from outside regularly wafting into the room.
Our servers were lovely and fun, but it would've been great if we could've been warned of the wait time for everything. It took 45 minutes for drinks and we waited over 90 minutes between entrees and mains. By that point my guests were hungry and frustrated.
To their credit, it looked like a very busy evening that they were fully booked for, but perhaps having more than one chef who did *everything* (including prep by the looks of things - absolute legend!) and one bartender would've helped?
We also had drinks missed (which was quickly rectified), but the main thing was everyone left hungry. The serving sizes were not large, or potentially we were waiting too long, and it was too late to order more.
I used to work in hospo and am generally understanding of these things, but the lack of communication and not being offered compensation for the inconvenience was disappointing. We were also charged a weekend fee which I wasn't aware of until the end. I would've usually brought all this up but we were in a rush to get to our next venue.
The food was really great and tasty for the most part (the steak and carrots were to die for!) but the oysters and kingfish weren't as fresh as I'm used to. I'm really hoping this was just an off night for them, because the concept, taste, friendly waitstaff and environment were great.
