Here’s a more detailed and polished version of your review:
I recently dined at this restaurant and, unfortunately, found the experience underwhelming.
Starting with the hamachi crudo, it lacked the depth of flavor and seasoning one would expect from such a dish. Without enough salt or acidity to elevate it, it came across as bland and uninspiring. The cauliflower dish was another disappointment; it was severely overcooked, resulting in a mushy texture that felt unnecessary and unappetizing. Proper preparation could have made this dish much more enjoyable.
The pasta with mushrooms also fell short. It desperately needed salt and a drizzle of olive oil to bring out the flavors. The advertised truffle was completely undetectable, which was a letdown. After adding my own salt and pepper, the dish tasted noticeably better, but that effort should have been unnecessary.
As for the sea bass, while the flavors were acceptable, it was slightly overcooked, which detracted from what could have been a standout dish.
Beyond the food, the service was slower than expected, especially for a busy Saturday evening. There were notable delays in receiving drinks, which added to the overall frustration. While the servers were polite and friendly, the efficiency left much to be desired.
On a positive note, I did enjoy my French 75, which was well-balanced and refreshing. However, it wasn’t enough to compensate for the overall decline in quality. Having dined here in previous years, I couldn’t help but feel that standards have slipped. While Old Town dining might not always deliver high expectations, I hoped for a better experience.
In summary, while there were a few highlights, the food’s lack of seasoning and attention to detail, combined with slow service, left me disappointed. I hope the restaurant considers improving its execution to return to its former standard.
