Fukumoto Sushi & Yakitori Izakaya is a Japanese restaurant and pub. For those that unfamiliar, an izakaya is a Japanese style pub that acts as a social gathering place for the local neighborhood. However, unlike pubs and bars found in American and England, Japanese izakayas place a premium on food as well drinks.At Fukumoto, meals are served gradually over several courses instead of being ordered a la carte from the menu. As the name suggests, there are two main types of cuisine at Fukumoto. The first is sushi, but that also encompasses nigiri and sashimi offerings. The second is yakitori, which is usually skewers of marinated chicken grilled over an open flame. However, the Fukumoto kitchen staff play with the concepts and uses a variety of proteins, sauces and vegetables to bring some variety to the traditional version of the cuisine.

Hand's down the best dinning experience I ever had! Amazing Traditional Japanese Izakaya! The Sushi is very fresh and the Yakitori (grilled items) are a must here! The serves was very fast and friendly. They have many traditional isakaya dishes, and a lot of sushi choices! The get most of there fish from Japan and other location from around the world delivered weekly by air! They have many Japanese beers also craft beers from Japan on tap and bottles (probably over 15 different Japanese beers) And not to mention the Sake' list they have, easily the largest Sake' list I have seen (over 40 different Sake') I highly recommend this restaurant if your ever in Austin Texas! You wont be disappointed ( unless you looking for a California Roll) :)

Horrible Service- Their host is horrible. Called about dinner reservations and he says "we're full" and hangs up on me mid-sentence. A previous dining experience in the restaurant had terrible service as well. Food is decent if you make it past their awful host.
