Hart House's passenger elevator is out of commission until the end of September. Gallery Grill guests will have to access the 2nd floor restaurant using the stairs.

Gallery Grill serves lunch weekdays upstairs in historic Hart House on the University of Toronto's downtown St George campus. The restaurant is also a stunning setting for private events and receptions. Drop by for a quick bite, unwind over a cocktail, or celebrate a special occasion in one of the city's iconic spaces.

    For December 12-19, Gallery Grill sets aside its usual a la carte menu and offers a three-course prix fixe menu devised by Executive Chef Marco Tucci to celebrate the culinary delights of the holiday season. Chef Marco's menu runs the gamut of comforting winter fare, both old-school and new: from traditional Roast Turkey, Red Wine Braised Lamb Shank, and Maple-Glazed Salmon, to plant-based Three Sisters Ragu with Wild Rice & Ancient Grain Pilaf. Reservations are available weekdays between 11am and 2pm. To book for groups of 15 or more, or to arrange for payment with UofT FIS codes, reach out to dining@harthouse.ca Payment will be taken at the restaurant, the listed price does not include beverages, taxes, or gratuity

                                      This is the third time we’ve dined at the Gallery Grill and we have enjoyed each time immensely. The food and its presentation is always delicious and the ambience is special. As seniors we found the noise level a bit problematic but we are willing to put up with it.

                                      Food was excellent, as always...and the room remains beautiful. Service was disappointing this time, however. Long waits for food order to be taken; an even longer wait for a glass that could be used with a bottle of sparkling water (no waiter anywhere nearby to ask for it again and the glass arrived two-thirds of the way through our main courses; having to get up and track down someone for our bill.) The restaurant was not particularly crowded, so perhaps there were too few staff on duty...but this was not at all the usual experience.

                                      The people who run this restaurant take great pride in their work and will do what they can to make things right. At this visit, I received attentive care at the right pace. The courses arrived with enough time to enjoy them, and drinks were refreshed as needed. The meals were hot, fresh, and flavoured appropriately. They even gave us extra plates and cutlery for shared dishes, without us asking.

                                      Charming room and excellent service. The corn and apple soup was delicious as were the heirloom and gem lettuce/radicchio salads. I wasn’t fond of the apple crisp since it was overly sweet and the crisp was underneath so soft. The creme brûlée was amazing.

                                      Unfortunately, I will not go back to The Grill. The food was not appealing, and the cost quite high. A birthday lunch for 2, the waitress began by asking if we’d like some bread with our meal. I thought it was free… we were charged. I ordered the soup and there was barely a cup in my bowl but I was charged $12. My mushroom salad had poached mushrooms… terrible. Would’ve been better sauted. My guest had a salad overloaded with dressing. She couldn’t eat it all. I had ticked off that it was a birthday, but no mention of it by our server.
