Gekkō is a japanese-inspired steakhouse and lounge from the minds of groot hospitality’s david grutman and the recording artist bad bunny.

Located in miami’s thriving brickell neighborhood, gekkō immerses patrons in a fusion of elevated steakhouse surroundings with the modernity–and precision–of japanese cuisine. Signature dishes include premium steak cuts, jaw-dropping sushi inventions, and delicious seafood appetizers. A bespoke cocktail program, an extensive wine list and bottle service offerings complement the menu.

Gekkō’s aesthetic is lush, luxe and jewel-toned. With design accents like custom wallpaper, dark and rich palettes and hints of soft golden light, the restaurant transports visitors to an intimate, rare nocturnal world. As it happens, the word “Gekkō” itself translates from Japanese to English as “moonlight.”

I have to begin by saying the hostess ( I didn't get her name) was very rude when we walked in. We (party of 2) were truthfully several minutes late for our reservation and she didn't want to seat us. After waiting for her to finally return from asking the manager what to do with us, she did take us to a table next to a large party and made one of their guests move to accommodate our seating which I thought was very odd since there was ample seating. However, our waiter Kevin came over and introduced himself. He immediately saw the situation and moved us to another table. After that, the evening was great. Kevin was super attentive to our needs; and the food and drinks were excellent. There was even a little after hours lounge in the back. If it wasn't for Kevin, I would be writing a much different review. Thank you Kevin for saving our night!

the food was great, we had an issue with our table, had reservation for 10pm our table was assigned at 11pm after multiple times asking for it

Very expebsive for the quality and quantity of food, very poor service… I had to keep calling the waitress many times, she kept forgeting…

I pulled up at 10:15 for a 10:30 reservation. They told me to wait by the bar for 15 mins. At 10:30 I asked if the table was ready and they said another 30 minutes. So I had to leave and and get Burger King across the street.

We visited Gekko last night and were very disappointed with our experience. The tables in our seating area were uncomfortably close together, making the atmosphere feel cramped. While the food was extremely expensive, the quality and taste didn’t live up to the price. For instance, the Daring plant-based chicken noodles were inedible—it just didn’t taste good. To make matters worse, we were charged for a dish I returned immediately due to an allergy, which felt unfair and frustrating. By the time I left, I was still hungry despite the hefty bill. Overall, it was a very underwhelming experience, and we won’t be returning.

Food was delicious and the service stupendous. Highly recommend the wagyu steak and definitely remember to leave room for the lava cake!

I won’t go back. The hostess wanted to seat us in a hallway next to the servers work station where extra tables had been placed. We asked for a different table and we were given one only to be moved back to the hallway 15 minutes into our service. I should have left right then. Ruined the whole experience. And regardless of where one was seated the tables are all on top of one another with no room in between. And the food was only okay - nothing David Grutman should be proud of.
