Booked a table at The George, Backwell for Sunday lunch. We used to go there a lot but stopped going as it was poor value for money. We hadn't been back in almost 2 years so was really looking forward to trying it out again.
The service was very quick, we sat down and our needs were attended to. The food arrived very quickly, however, it was luke warm to say the least, which is not nice for a Sunday Roast, as I want to enjoy the food before it becomes stone cold. I asked for extra gravy, 1 to warm up my food but 2 because I had hardly any gravy compared to my husband.
We ate the food, which was Ok and then sat by the fire and had another drink. All was going well until we got the bill - we were charged £1 for the extra gravy and over £6 for the service, which was to do nothing more than to bring 2 plates of cold food to our table - our table was also right by the kitchen. We had to go to the bar for our drinks, so not much table service.
I object to being hit with a large service bill for almost no service and to charge for the extra gravy is miserly! Certainly does not encourage anyone to want to go back. A very expensive lunch for a very mediocre meal.
George Inn - Backwell已於2025年2月12日回覆Dear Belinda,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your recent visit did not meet your expectations, especially after returning after such a long time.
We appreciate your comments about the quick service and the atmosphere by the fire. However, we regret that the temperature of your meal and the additional charges for gravy and service did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will certainly address these concerns with our team to improve our service.
We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future.
Best regards,
The George at Backwell
