With a love for Japanese pop culture and nightlife, Golden Gai is inspired by the noisy and creative back alleyways of Shinjuku, Golden Gai, Tokyo, Japan. From our menu to the walls, we’ve added our own personality anywhere we can.
As Melbourne’s very own Golden Gai, our doors are open to anyone and everyone who is looking for a late night hang out, hungry for Japanese fusion, drinks to celebrate or wanting to be transported to Japan for a little while.

I invited my parents to Golden Gai for the first time. They loved the food. Everyone was able to find something they enjoyed eating. There were plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters.

Food and service were fantastic. The wagyu main was extremely tasty but quite small for the price. Other than that evening was great, will definitely go again soon!

Food was quite good and service was friendly. Restaurant was very noisy….but ambiance was good.would recommend for a casual meal.
