Grain & Cane - Bar & Table is your home for hospitality in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. An homage to family nostalgia, our neighborhood table is built on the Connell legacy, as leading American rice and sugar cane purveyors and community idealists. Our menu features dishes that nod to family tradition, regional flare, and vibrant flavors, such as seasonal cocktails, our famous Grover Double Burger and Shrimp Tostada. Strong roots and dynamic character serve as the blueprint for a thoughtful selection of craft beers, wine, and cocktails. Vintage art and antique photographs from past Connell generations set a backdrop for a convivial atmosphere – a restaurant and bar ideal for a range of experiences, from casual occasions to magnetic celebrations. Everything about our experience was five stars. Five of us went for Thanksgiving dinner and none of us had been ever been there. We will definitely be back.

We have dined here multiple times but unfortunately tonight was not a pleasant experience. There was a musician playing who was mediocre and it was hard to hear my partner's conversation. The real problem was that the food took forever to come out. Our appetizer didn't take too long but we waited almost 30 minutes for our entrees which were a chicken caesar salad and a lobster roll. The restaurant was not crowded. There were multiple empty tables. When we asked our waiter about the wait he said oh it's very busy on the other side of the restaurant. My husband took a walk to the bathroom and observed that there were empty tables there as well. We could see the kitchen from our tables and honestly there seemed to be no reason for the long wait. To make up for it they offered us dessert on the house. We asked to get it to go and then proceeded to wait again for 20 minutes. Ultimately my husband went up the hostess to request our check because we wanted to leave. We had now spent two hours here. We left the restaurant without our comped desserts. The just as we go to our car the waiter came out with a bag of dessert. I honestly felt bad for him because the wait was clearly a kitchen problem and not a waiter problem. This experience is really unacceptable. Not sure if there was a change in management or what but we won't be going back here.

I was hesitant at first with this being attached to a hotel, but the food was exquisite--perfect for a date night or an above average cost for dinner. The burrata was out of this world and the lobster roll had a hidden mayo/lemon combo that had me tossing up my hands with excitement. My wife had the Salmon over a pumpkin and curry squash that was EASILY the star of the show. We both left planning for when we could make the drive back for another meal. Highly recommended.

First time at Grain & Cane. Loved the bar! Great old fashioned sign that would change from time to time. As a bourbon drinker, there were plenty of mid and high range options. My family and I had the cheese fries and tuna tartar. The cheese fries were very good. I felt the tuna tartar could have used a drizzling of some wasabi sauce or something with a mild kick. Would have helped the presentation too. My son had the double cheeseburger and said it was one of the best he ever had. I had the french dip. It was good but could have used some cheese. My wife had a lobster roll which she enjoyed. We all thought the french fries were excellent. Very clean restaurant and very good service. We will be back.

Went to Crane and Grain tonight for my anniversary. My wife and I had made a reservation and were greeted by the host. They gave us a special table and treated us first class. Our waiter was amazing and very attentive. Food is always amazing. The staff is very professional, friendly and very attentive to all needs. The General Manager took special care of us and made us feel very comfortable. Thank you for a memorable evening. We live locally and believe this is the best consistent restaurant in Berkeley, Heights.

The Salmon Bowl was excellent, as was the Bread Pudding. We split the bread pudding 4 ways and if we hadn't been so full, we might have ordered another one.

We had another nice meal at G&C last night. First time eating in their enclosed outdoor patio. Had a nice table in front of the fireplace. Enjoyed several appetizers and some drinks followed by entrees. One of us had salmon which was liked especially with the sauce and two of us had the Brooklyn pizza that was so good. We all shared the molten chocolate cake which was delicious. Service was a little slow despite it not being overly crowded early on a Saturday. Waiter seemed to disappear at times. One of our go to places and continue to recommend it.
