It was lovely--wine list, per usual, was off the charts. However, we sat in that room upstairs that Ive never seen before. It was the exact opposite of the ambiance/ vibe we were looking for when we booked G23 for a holiday/ birthday celebration. No decorations. The lights were turned all the way up. it felt like a terrible wedding or banquet hall. And if you were sitting near a window it was approx 50 degrees

This place is WAY OVERRATED. To start, our server was flat. There was no inquiry if we had done here before. There was no interest in guiding us through the menu to make recommendations. We ordered the lobster bisque (it arrived lukewarm at best), crab cakes (zero flavor), Norwegian crab legs, the rib eye steak and the Grill 23 tots (the only thing that arrived hot). I said I would order a drink to have with my meal. The wine and cocktail menu was DROPPED on the table and I was referred to where I would find the wines by the glass. Very presumptuous on their part. My BF who doesn’t drink, had his soda spilled on him. Sure accidents happen but there was no interest to ask how much was dumped on him. The rude waiter who dropped the wine/cocktail menu was giving dirty looks and shaking his head. Told he him he not to shake his head at us. They marginally cleaned up the soda in the floor therefore my BF’s feet were in it and now sticky soda shoes would be tracked into the car. The dinners arrived and as we were making our way through, one of the managers came over to ask our food was, she was quite surprised when I said okay. I also needed to ask for a bowl for the don’t crab shells. After we finished our entrees, we were asked if we would be taking our left over food home, I said yes and the food was returned and placed on the floor. I don’t care for food to be placed on a floor where people walk and who knows what critters come through. We were asked about dessert, we said yes and was handed the menus then proceeded to wait and wait and wait, by the time the server came back, we had zero interest and asked for our bill which was very promptly handed to us. We paid up and I had a conversation with the manager about the zero attention to detail of any kind, the mediocrity of the food and the poor service. Remember you have choices, these places are a “dime a dozen.” This IS NOT what it purports itself to be, go elsewhere. BTW, we were billed for the spilled soda

Impressed by this establishment. We wanted fine dining in Boston and we got it. I had the halibut and it was amazing. My husband had a steak, also amazing. My daughter and son were able to slit the heritage chicken and it was plenty. Sides are shareable. My husband’s brown sugar old fashioned was Pinterest worthy. I had an espresso martini x 2 with amazing taste and a frosted glass which kept it cold for the little time that it lasted. Ambiance is elegant. They were well decorated for Christmas. Coat check was a nice surprise. The service was impeccable. We will return.

Tanner was an incredible server, the food was delicious, and the kitchen provided a complementary dessert for the celebration of my engagement. Could not recommend this place enough

The restaurant is gorgeous and decorated with an elegant Christmas spirit in mind. It was our first visit to Boston, and I'm glad my husband, four children, and son's girlfriend attended. Our server was outstanding. I had the 2 ounce wagu, and it was tender and perfect. Everyone enjoyed their meal except my daughter's meatloaf was overcooked. However, our server had another one brought, and they took it off our bill. The only negatives: We had to wait thirty minutes for our reservation, and our table was located near the door opening and brutally cold (but the ambiance could not have been better). I can see why this restaurant was very popular with patrons.

There is no better place to celebrate the Holidays than Grill 23! It's festive and welcoming and the food never disappoints. Christopher, our waiter, was outstanding!
