It all started in the late 1800’s.. a young Gustav Johann Garbe got on a boat from Bremen, Germany to New York, destined for the North West Territories of Canada. Gustav stood up and stood out, always with family, friends and community at the forefront of his mind. His drive, passion and core values have directed four generations of self made entrepreneurs to where we find ourselves today.

John Garbe, in the name of his great grandfather, has assembled a team of exceptional professionals. The menu has been carefully developed, relying on local farmers and community for unsurpassed cuisine. The service experience is firmly rooted in family and friends. This is Gustav.

As a single woman I was dining alone. Reading my book when the waitress approached me asking me on behalf of the male staff if “my personality is as pretty as I look” and that she’ll “keep me safe” from the male staff and pass on that I’m a “6’0 Blackbelt that can defend myself.. When I was so uncomfortable that I was crying I asked to leave and the waitress said she had daughters and she will take care of the bill. Only for me to be followed of of the restaurant by the male manager asking me to pay my bill after he himself was looking at me all dinner long. I felt and was sexually harassed, attacked, uncomfortable and forced to pay for the situation. My waitress told me it’s just because I “looked pretty” I will be seeking legal action.

Yes, you were in the restaurant this evening.. that represents the only truth. You were greeted promptly, seated quickly & welcomed into our home. Our first interactions went well.. it was when you returned from the bathroom that, from of your 60+ yr old female server, you were an entirely different person. A dramatic change in attitude, personality and demeanor. We hope that you overcome whatever challenges you are facing but please do not fabricate fiction to match whatever narrative is playing out in your mind. The words you state were never said. The server never agreed to cover the bill. The manager addressed you only to make sure you were safe. Our staff and guests have already documented their observations of your time with us. We have also archived all of our video camera footage.

We took our 91 year old Mother for brunch, we couldn’t have been happier with the food and service The restaurant is very accessible which was great for her Lauren our server made the event for Mom special bringing her a dessert even though it was 11am, she ate it all and loved it

Context -- a family that has eaten in multiple Michelin 3 star restaurants around the world. This dinner was about $500. The food was good for the location -- no complaints. The service, however, was... lacking. Literally. The appetizers arrived AFTER the main course. The main course -- the most expensive steak on the menu -- arrived cooked perfectly but lukewarm. Getting water refill was a process of a dozen follow-ups and eventually having to ambush a waiter for another table. The manager floated up after his junior waiter's obvious mess-ups but did not follow through, so mess-ups continued. The restaurant came through when asked for a dessert cheese plate off the menu, but the fairly enjoyable cheese selection was accompanied by assorted pickles. All in all, the food is well above average for the geography, but there are much better operated places within 15 minute drive.

We were sat in the bar side. It was cozy and quaint. I 100% recommend ordering a steak while there. We did wait a little while before being attended to by our server, however, I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was busy being family day weeeknd. Both my husband and I were over-pleased with our food and will definitely eat there again!

Fantastic Galentine’s dinner with a dear friend. Service was impeccable. Manager stopped by to ensure we were enjoying our experience. Recommendations for type of steak to order were very much appreciated. Spot on and to our liking. House made focaccia was delicious. Flourless chocolate cake was devine. Pasquale our server was very attentive and professional. Highly recommend especially for occasions when you want to feel special.

Food was OK if your holding yourself out to be a steak house and charging SH prices you need to get it right . Ordered 3 steaks one arrived cold while everything else on the plate was hot the 2 nd medium rare arrived blue and the 3rd rare arrived medium well . Sent them back You just can’t have fundamental misses like that . Service was above average and the rest of the food was fine .
