I've been dining at Gyu-Kaku for over four years, enjoying great service for special occasions. But on February 12th, my girlfriend and I had a disappointing experience. Our server was frazzled, making us feel rushed during what should have been a romantic dinner. But things got worse on our most recent visit. Our server, Sophia, was unprofessional and unenthusiastic. After sitting down, we waited five minutes with no water, and when she finally approached, she immediately asked if we were ready to order—without offering drinks or asking how our day was. It took another 10-15 minutes for her to return to take our order, still without water. After we ordered, a busboy brought us water. The food quality was also subpar. The crispy tuna was burnt, and the gyoza and wontons were lukewarm at best. We waited 35-40 minutes for our four entrees and rice, and when they finally arrived, the fourth entree we ordered was missing. We chose not to reorder due to the long wait. During this time, Sophia was running around, and despite being busy, she never checked on us. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. Adding to the frustration, Sophia didn’t even oil our grill. We had to flag down another server to do it. The busser, however, was the highlight of our visit—he was friendly and attentive, a stark contrast to Sophia. In the past, Gyu-Kaku provided amazing food and service. (Samus being a highlight, she was super nice the times we had her.) But now, with overpriced food, poor quality, and terrible service, it’s not worth the visit. Gyu-Kaku is no longer the special place it used to be. I’d recommend trying other AYCE Korean BBQ spots in the Twin Cities instead.

Wonderful place! The service was great. Very attentive wait staff! The food was plentiful and it was so fun to have the experience of cooking it ourselves right at the table! Ow I’m dreaming of a table top grill like they had! The quality of food was nice. My only wish was that there were more veggies to throw on the grill with huge amounts of meat. They went above and brought out a nice scoop of ice cream for our birthday diner! We did not leave hungry, that’s for sure!

Really great experience overall and the food was INCREDIBLE. Our server Andy went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience and we would have come back just for him. Luckily the food and drinks were very good as well and this will now be a go to spot for us!

Thank you for making my birthday a special one! I had a group of 8 booked for a birthday party. I requested the private room in back and they were able to accommodate right at the reservation time. Everyone was happy with the food and loved the experience. Very kind of them to also bring a dessert on the house for my birthday. Overall a great night and definitely recommend for your special occasions

It was a fun time for a date night. We got the Gyu-Kaku Stars & Wagyu that’s valued at $150 which for the amount of Wagyu provided is way over priced. The burner was light and took a bit longer for the meat to cook. Got the Lychee Mojito as a drink and would not recommend getting. Overall everything was good, but again not worth the price for how small the portion was. However, the Matcha Tiramisu was good but ONLY if you like traditional Matcha, and I don’t like tiramisu but enjoyed it!!
