Made an 8:45 reservation which worked perfectly for when we would get out of our movie. Got a call from the restaurant 3 hours before our reservation asking if we could show up early so they could close the kitchen early. I said we couldn’t, and they said “well don’t be late, the kitchen will close at 8:50-8:55”. It is unacceptable to advertise and take reservations for 5 minutes before the kitchen closes. Even 30min is pushing it. We were rushed by this restaurant before we arrived, we were rushed when we got there, and so I took the liberty of rushing us out and told them to just pack it all up to go before the entrees even arrived.
The millionaire oysters were not a good flavor profile. Way too much soy sauce and a lot of inconsistency from one to the next. The standard raw oysters had a lot of sand in them. The bacon steak was good. The tuna steak was good. But I can sear a piece of meat at home in 3min. I came here for service which was not provided. The sever was trying to apologize for them not being able to give us the “full experience” but the truth is, they were able to, but chose not to. If your kitchen closes at 8:50 then you simply cannot take a reservation after 8:15. I can only assume the owners have not put the time and care in to see what it is like to be a customer at their establishment. Of course I still tipped over 20% and was gracious, but I will not be returning to this establishment. I recommend Kevin rathbun steak for anyone hoping to receive service. Maybe the owners can go dine at Rathbun’s to learn what good service is. I also specified I preferred to be seated at the edge of the restaurant and was seated in the middle. It was far too loud and we could barely hear the server. I will have to take the lady somewhere else to redo her birthday dinner.
