   I found a large piece of plastic in my loco moco. The restaurant handled it in a typical high-end manner—the manager came out to apologize and even removed the dish from the bill. However, the plastic was quite sharp, which left me feeling uneasy. My throat feels a bit sore, making me wonder if I accidentally swallowed another piece, though I really hope I didn’t. After discovering the plastic, I lost my appetite and didn’t feel like eating anymore, so it wasn’t the most pleasant experience. I hope this improves in the future. Other than that, the atmosphere, taste, and service were all very satisfying.

   I do not like the new menu. There are very few items that appeal to me so I use the bar menu most of the time.

   HāLani is incredible! From the ambiance & details of the dinnerware, drink ware and even the lightly played music, the service & quality of the food, I was amazed and I look forward to returning as this restaurant is on my top 5!

   If you ever find yourself on the Kohala Coast at the Auberge Mauna Lani Resort, do not miss the opportunity to dine at HaLani! Our dinner tonite was outstanding! At Jeric’s suggestion, we had the bone in T bone steak, a new addition to the menu. Kudos to the chef! The steak was so delicious, flavorful and seasoned perfectly that there was none left! The two of us devoured it, because it was that good! The entree comes with steamed broccolini and the sweetest cipolini onions, cooked until soft, bringing out their natural sweetness. They melted in your mouth! This is a regular dining spot for us. The friendly staff, who are always attentive and responsive make the service top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant and especially this entree. It’s not to be missed!

   The food needs work. Mushrooms were dry and not seasoned well and the ribeye kebab was overcooked.
