Harry’s Restaurant in Exeter is set in the heart of the city and has been gratifying appetites for 26 years. Rated as one of the best restaurants in Exeter on TripAdvisor, Harry’s has established itself to become the go-to dining den on the neighbourhood food scene.

Founded in 1993 by the Pounds family, Harry’s is still independently owned and run today. The eclectic restaurant, bar and private dining room all sit within the iconic gothic style building, formerly Harry Hems’ 19th century architectural sculptors workshop.

Thoroughly lovely experience. Staff are incredible & nothing is too much. Food was delicious, steak, special fish & risotto. Something for everyone. Great selection of wines

We were welcomed with open arms when they realised I had booked the wrong day for our meal, and they made room for us, when my face must have looked horrified. The steaks were amazing and just like slicing through butter, and really enjoyed the pavlova and cocktails 🍸 😀

We are returning customers and never fail to have an outstanding experience when we visit. The food is always fantastic along with the staff. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

This is one of many visits to Harry’s, and I want to prefix this review by saying we’ve never had a bad meal there. We love it for special occasions and I recommend it to everyone. However this visit I was let down, I wrote in the reservation this was for our wedding anniversary: I didn’t expect special treatment but we were given the worst table in the restaurant (a booth right next to the door to the toilets and function room). It’s a noisy and busy area with staff and people going to and from the bathroom. It’s also removed from the body of the restaurant so you don’t benefit as much for the ambience which is one of the main reasons we love it there so much. I didn’t ask to move, it was very busy and I couldn’t see any other tables. Our cocktails (festive 75) were really good and so were our little appetisers of pigs in blankets and aranacini (like REALLY good). My husband had the fillet steak and it looked amazing, he loved it. I ordered lasagne and I was really disappointed, the bechamel had congealed on the the top with the cheese and I found it quite unpleasant to eat. I left more than half, which I never do but it was just not nice. Our desserts were nice, but the chocolate torte I didn’t feel was the usual standard I expect at Harry’s. The service was excellent as always.

Great service. The staff are very welcoming and were able to accommodate our changes to the booking easily. Food was delicious.

Another fabulous meal! Going to Harry's has been our Christmas treat for several years and it never fails to impress. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing at very reasonable prices. Looking forward to next year!
