Welcome to Hawksmoor Chicago, where we bring our acclaimed steakhouse experience from the UK to the iconic LaSalle Powerhouse in River North. Our ethos is simple: ‘Buy the best and let it shine.’ We serve all-natural, pasture-reared, dry-aged beef from US family-run farms, cooked over charcoal and seasoned simply with sea salt. Our seafood, sourced from trusted Northeastern fishermen, is prepared with equal care.

In our 16,500 sq ft space, featuring barrel-vaulted ceilings and touches from the Golden Age of Travel, Hawksmoor is perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re stopping by for cocktails, a casual lunch or a special celebration, we make sure you leave full and happy. We also offer private dining for groups of 10 to full venue buy-outs for 500—ideal for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and corporate events.

And don’t miss our Sunday Roast: dry-aged beef, beef-dripping potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and bone marrow gravy—something like a Thanksgiving dinner every Sunday.

Sunday roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

It’s a simple concept: bring any wine you like – doesn’t matter if it’s a first-growth Bordeaux or a bottle of Barefoot – and we’ll only charge you $10 corkage (for up to two bottles). Not sure what to buy? Take a stroll over to our neighbors at the Aqua Wine & Spirits store (they’re literally on the other side of the street) and they’ll help you choose something to make your meal pop. You can even call us ahead of time and ask one of our somms what they suggest.

Wow! Chicago has many great steakhouses, and this one is every bit as good as the old guard with small tweaks that make it incredible. The skillet filet and the full fat old fashioned are perfected classics. The skillet filet is smothered in bone marrow caramelized onions which may be the best onions I’ve ever had. The saltiness from marrow and the sweetness from onions added so much decadence to a really great cut of meat. The full fat old fashioned at $20 has a lot to live up to, and some how it does and then some! The brown butter element gives it almost a butterscotch flavor but not overly sweet. It’s so balanced, I would challenge even non-whiskey drinkers to try it. Mashed potatoes and gravy were really good, Mac and cheese was high quality but nothing revolutionary. -1 star on ambiance because our table was reallly close to our neighbors but the vibe was exactly what you want in a steak house, and even the coat check/check in desk gives a very upscale experience.

A-MAZING food. We just did meat. Veal, filet, strip and fried shrimp. Not a single morsel remaining.

We were a party of 6, got there at 6 and sat for over an hour and a half for our dinner. There was a food allergy at the table and was told to the server that it was severe . After waiting an hour and a half the server was kindly asked what happened to the meal and he had to “check on it” . As we watched patrons come and go we finally got our meal. The person at our table with the severed food allergy was given a sauce with the sauce me ingredient that was communicated would be deadly to them. Luckily the sauce was NOT used BUT also if it was used 911 would have been needed. Luckily the manager realized what had happened and during the meal removed the sauce with great concern for the safety of our guest. Ultimately the food was sub par and the experience disappointing .

Rounded out 2024 with another incredible meal at Hawksmoor! It was the perfect way to spend New Year’s Eve. Once again the service, food, and ambiance were all impeccable. Tried the Salted Caramel Chocolates for the first time (do yourself a favor and get the 8 piece take home box) and they were heavenly. Looking forward to remaining a Hawksmoor “regular” in 2025.

NYE at Hawksmoor was a great experience all the way around! The prix fixe menu provided an abundance of delicious food and the staff was very accommodating to some dietary restrictions. A very enjoyable evening in a beautiful setting.

Went for NYE dinner and got the set menu - value for what we got was spot on and will definitely be back. Food was delicious and had good variety. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Ambience was relaxed and cozy!

Appetizers very good, especially the mushrooms and beets. Rib chop very good. Cream spinach a bit too much rosemary.

Service was very good, Kimberley?? Shrimp cocktail was chewy, caeser salad was huge for one person, more don’ts than do’s… Filet can be red or well done. Strip was WAY larger than I would have preferred. Service was great, desert fantastic, in between, just ok. Expensive for just ok

The meat was bland and over cooked. We asked for two of the steaks medium rare and they both came cooked medium. This being a steakhouse it should not happen. They did reach out to me after the review ro rectify the situation so I appreciate their commitment to do better.
