My wife and I arrived on time for our 6:00 belated Valentine’s reservation and were greeted and sat promptly. Our server came right over and was friendly and attentive, immediately taking cocktail orders and explaining the special, surf and turf, a bone-in Filet and a shelled lobster, two claws and the tail. I brought a bottle of wine, which he opened and decanted for us. Drinks came out, solid cocktails, zero complaints there. We ordered dinner, special for my wife, bone-in ribeye for me. We split a wedge salad, Brussels sprouts for our side. Salads came out; pre split in the kitchen which is nice. They were just ok, lettuce looked like it had seen better days but tasted ok. Blue cheese and bacon make up for lots of shortcomings. Steaks came out. Neither was an especially good cut of meat, wife’s filet had sinew running through it and my ribeye had more fat and gristle than I expected for a premium cut. Neither was really cooked correctly; server had explained how the steaks temperatures came out of the kitchen, based on that I ordered my steak medium, however the outside was over done and pretty raw in the middle. Wife’s filet ordered medium rare, was overcooked to more like medium. The lobster was also kind of overcooked and tough. Sure we could have complained and sent it back, but it wasn’t inedible and we were hungry and just wanted to eat. You just expect better quality for the price. Brussels sprouts were good, but had a gloppy aioli on the side that didn’t add much to the dish. Dessert was complimentary, a shared flourless chocolate cake that was just ok. Overall, I’d say the service was top notch but the food could be improved upon. I don’t know that we’ll be back, given the options around here. I’d give 3.5 stars if I could, but I’ll round up to four.
