    Since Herons opened it has been our favorite place for special occasions such as birthdays. The food, service and ambiance are typically excellent. Last night we went to celebrate our daughter’s 23rd birthday. The food was excellent as always. There were times when the service had some gaps, which I have never experienced at Herons(we have probably dined there at least 10 times).The service was still very good, but not over-the-top Michelin star-like service like we have consistently had in the past (there are no Michelin Stars in NC). And when we have been there to celebrate birthdays in the past there was always something special at the end for the birthday girl or guy. The hostess acknowledged the birthday when we arrived so they knew. Maybe they just don’t do that anymore. Our daughter still loved everything, but I’ll have to admit I was a bit disappointed.

    Very expensive prix fixe menu for Valentine’s Day, and not sure how different it was from regular menu. And not great for people with allergies to fish and shell fish. Great service. But 4 hours is way too long.

    Menu was somewhat uninspired. Entre of yellow fin tuna and beef tenderloin. For the price how about something more interesting like rack of lamb or Dover sole. Maybe next time.
