We sat down at 6:40 and didn’t leave till 9 PM and not because we were drinking copious bottles of wine, ha, wish!  the enthusiasm level from the staff was very low, and it took nearly an hour to get our main course after ordering. We were seated in the annex room next to the bathrooms, which is fine, but not very fun atmosphere but at least it’s quiet. The birthday delivery of dessert took forever and wasn’t served with much fanfare. I throughly loved every bite of the duck and the dipping sauce for it…. We were seated in the annex room next to the bathrooms, which is fine, but not very fun atmosphere but at least it’s quiet. The birthday delivery of dessert took forever and wasn’t served with much fanfare. Here, on the Central Coast of California, BBQ has always meant grilling over an open fire of red oak, a style of cooking that is native to our area and goes back to the days of the Spanish Rancheros. By combining the old and the new and using only the finest sources, we have created an exciting cuisine with outstanding steaks, ribs and chicken, along with fresh fish and seafood and vegetarian options. The restaurant has repeatedly earned the Wine Spectator Award for our wine list. We also create our own (world class) wines for sale in the restaurant and to the public. For 40 years Hitching Post Wines has produced some of the best wines of Santa Barbara County garnering an excellent reputation, particularly for our Pinot Noirs. I have been coming to Hitching Post 2 for 20 years and I’ve never experienced such slow and lackluster service, and on my birthday! We sat down at 6:40 and didn’t leave till 9 PM and not because we were drinking copious bottles of wine, ha, wish!  the enthusiasm level from the staff was very low, and it took nearly an hour to get our main course after ordering. We were seated in the annex room next to the bathrooms, which is fine, but not very fun atmosphere but at least it’s quiet. The birthday delivery of dessert took forever and wasn’t served with much fanfare. Disappointing night from an otherwise solid and great restaurant.

As always great service great food. Shrimp cocktail is always good. My filet was cooked to perfection. Wife had the lobster tail which she enjoyed.

We ordered the bone-in rib eye and it was amazing. Very flavorful eating it as is. We shared since it’s 20oz. We also ordered the grill artichoke. Great smoky flavor and well seasoned. Can’t go wrong ordering these two items.
