Overlooking the Rosebud foreshore, Hobson combines art deco charm with the sleek, contemporary style of a modern cafe. The latter may evoke a sense of familiarity among weekenders visiting from Melbourne, but it’s also a solid hint at the pedigree behind this place.

The Only Hospitality Group (Bentwood, Stanley and Hotel Collingwood) took over and refreshed the site at the end of 2021, retaining the textured curves and decorative fluting on the building’s historic facade.

Inside is bright and airy with polished concrete and soft timbers throughout. The space seats 120 comfortably between two expansive dining rooms, with curb-side picnic tables shaded by beach umbrellas setting the scene outside.

Nice brunch place to eat but if booked out would become noisy. Food was very good with friendly service

Overall good .Could be a better range with the wine inc price point . Bit expensive for a cafe . The guy running the place was excellent.Sorted our issues with the wine .

Lunch at Hobson was a very pleasant experience. The food was very good, service was great and the ambience was fine. We were made to feel very comfortable. We’ll go there again!

The food presentation is expected. We love the customer service at this cafe; the staff provide service with a smile and enthusiasm. Coffee is nice and wet Chai is full of flavour.

Have had lunch here before which is why we came back for brunch. After this experience we would not return. While the staff and service was good, the sourdough on all our meals (avo on toast, eggs benedict) was hard as a rock. We could not cut through the bread and very difficult to eat. Meals were expensive, for some reason got charged more at the till than prices on the menu. And the music was incredibly loud for 11am, we could not hear each other speak. Overall, not a good experience and will not return.

Not sure if you are finding it difficult to find staff. Staff were lovely but you need more people on during peak season. There seemed to not be enough cutlery for each table also. My partner commented on pulled pork needed more sauce as it was dry. Bread hard to cut through but I thoroughly enjoyed the chilli scrambled eggs - they were yummy! Good buzz about the place. Food presented nicely.

Such a great cafe! Chilli scrambled was great quality, good portion size, right amount of chilli and heat. Scrambled eggs were also good portion, with quality sides: avocado with no blemishes or strings, tomato nicely roasted, bacon lean. Hash browns could have been hotter, but it’s peak season. It was $102 for three people including a coffee each with almond milk in one. Not cheap - $30 a head would be better - but walked away happy as the quality was great and tummies were full. Ordered using QR code, so didn’t experience a lot of service - but staff were polite and the place is clean. NOTE: Part of the Inglewood group (Stanley, Winter, Eastwood & others). Arrived 8.30am

Waited 45mins for food, staff were very apologetic & offered free drinks which was nice. Food was very nice, will def. return & recommend.
