Our one night stay was a Christmas gift voucher/experience, to include evening meal and breakfast. The room was reasonable, clean, the buffet breakfast was self service and the food offered was nice. But the evening meal the night before in the hotel's dining room was dreadful. You had to order online, sitting at your table using the scan bar code stuck to the table. The menu offered was limited. There was nothing that either my partner or I would want to choose, so we tried to go with what we thought would be safe options. A curry, and a chicken burger and chips. The curry was edible but not enjoyable at all. The chicken in the chicken burger was 2 pieces of reformed chicken in breadcrumbs, both pieces were dry and tasted stale, and along with what can only be described as half a plate full of overcooked oven chips, it was a terrible main course. We both opted for cheesecake for our sweets, thinking surely even frozen cheesecake would be ok, we were both still hungry. Buyt sadly we were wrong, or wasn't nice at all, we left it and walked away. The staff were all friendly and polite, we don't blame them at all. It seems to be the Holiday Inn way of providing poor quality low value food to minimise costs. It just ruined what was supposed to be a special gift, and a much needed break from busyworking life. Very disappointing
