Hostaria OsottoOsopra was born from a fortuitous meeting, between the streets of Venice.
With a coffee and a chat, the dream of opening a restaurant with friends seemed to really take shape for the first time.
In August 2017, those that were initially only ideas are transformed into reality, within the walls of a former pub in Calle San Pantalon, a stone's throw from Campo Santa Margherita.It would not make sense to open yet another tourist place in Venice, only to then get confused among the many restaurants around the city.
No, Hostaria OsottoOsopra was supposed to be something different.
It had to be a place to feel at home, where eating well in Venice became possible at a reasonable price and where the service, always in the hand but always elegant, made me want to come back.
At the opening, Hosteria OsottoOsopra looked like this: with the atmosphere of a typical Venetian hostaria, but from the almost gourmet kitchen.

                        Osottoosopra is well worth the adventure of winding your way through narrow alleys, across dark bridges and through piazzas with lively night time scenes. When you finally reach the intimate restaurants you are in for a treat. A creamy ricotta filled ravioli, the best rendition of paccheri with duck we’ve had in Venice, an incredible slow cooked beef. A very limited selection of wines by the glass. Great, friendly service. Here’s a tip: ask them to call you a water taxi to get you back home.

                        Fabulous dinning experience overall. The team honors my personal table preference. Good school decor. Excellent food. It’s a very busy establishment so waiting service is not as attentive as it could be, which is understandable. Will return and will recommend.

                        This restaurant is a must. Food and service driven with no frills. Alex our server was hilarious and very good. The food was incredible, the seafood spaghetti, the seabass, the ravioli, every dish was delicious. Highly recommend this if you are in Venice.

                        The food and service here were very good! Our server was wonderful and was excellent with children, we had our 2 year old with us! Great spot for authentic Italian food! Try the cuddlefish, it’s a must!

                        Great food and wine choices from a perfectly-judged menu. The emphasis is on seafood (squid starter and deafood spaghetti were both superb) but lots of other great options too. Thank you for a great experience!

                        Hostaria osottoosopra is a gem. The food was exceptional. Truly Venetian style without the hype. We had the mussels, octopus, duck ragout with pacchetti, and ravioli stuffed with scallop, shrimp and cheese. They All were incredible. It’s A charming restaurant on a corner. It seemed there were both tourists and locals dining. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. He made some excellent wine pairing selections with the food since we weren’t quite familiar with the list offerings. The owner was in the restaurant helping and he was working just as hard as the staff. We will be back if not this trip than ones in the future.
