Il Fornaio means the Baker in Italian. Located in downtown Carmel, Il Fornaio offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience and a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence wine list. Enjoy wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; house made and imported pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and house made soups; antipasti and a wide variety of desserts made daily from scratch.

    It was not the restaurants fault but it was so loud since we sat across from a table that was consistently complaining about the food and being extremely loud and disruptive. The table next to us was the same. Was hard to enjoy the dinner. Our server was very nice and very polite. We felt horrible that the other table was giving him such a hard time.

    We love going to the Carmel-By-The-Sea Il Fornaio. Their menu is the best and the outside views of the ocean are one of a kind. BUT, we come here most because of Sergio our server. He is very prompt, thoughtful, and just a pleasure to have a conversation. Sergio is why we so highly love coming here!

    Exquisite food, simply divine. Amazing service from being greeted at the door, to our wonderful and attentive server, great busser and friendly bartender. We are locals, and sometimes we forget about the incredible restaurants in our back yard.

    Super services, from the hostess welcoming & greeting us by name, delicious cuisine, breaded chicken was an amazing plus to the menu ( should be on the permanent menu👍) & nice venue! They celebrated our milestone anniversary Our preferred italian dinning. Mille grazie! Will be again for sure!!

    Nice family dinner in Carmel. Food was spot on. Little pricey but that’s to be expected in Carmel. Waiter was very polite but he was busy so it took a while between drink refills. Food came out on time and presentation was well done. Pesto chicken pasta dish was excellent.
