Il Fornaio means the Baker in Italian. Located in downtown Carmel, Il Fornaio offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience and a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence wine list. Enjoy wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; house made and imported pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and house made soups; antipasti and a wide variety of desserts made daily from scratch.

    We celebrated Valentines Day with a wonderful dinner and superb service. Our server - Aeden was so attentive and professional, it just made the evening more perfect for us. We have never been disappointed in anything we’ve ordered- this is our neighborhood go to and we just love the ambience and menu, also a great cocktail and wine selection.

    Food was good and we got Valentines specials. The service was outstanding. It was cold and drafty were we sat at the end if the hall. I did ask if they could close the door and I was told they were not able too. The door was open to outside and it was too busy to move to another table, is my only complaint. Just dont sit there and you will have a great time with a great meal!

    Friendly server. Nice table & setting. 1st time eating non-pizza here. We love the pizza, but the dinner food was just OK. Salmon undercooked & chicken overcooked. Salad overdressed & minestrone tasteless. So we’ll be back for pizza, but that’s it for us.

    What a awesome experience, from the gracious hostesses welcoming upon entering, to super & attentive services to as delicious & authentic Italian cuisine. Every dish we ordered was done to perfection. Can’t go wrong on any choice. Add beautify set venue👍. To sum il Fornaio is the gem of Carmel by the sea to go to for any occasion . Our favorite relaxing dinning which we would go to celebrate or just dine in with friends or alone. Thank you team il Fornaio for making our dinning always special👍 I give 10+++🙏

    Overall a great experience BUT for some reason we felt rushed and actually had to tell the server we wanted to enjoy ourselves. His first greeting was with multiple questions; would you like any water, do you want a drink from the bar, are you going to have an appetizer and what would you like for a main course, ALL asked at the same time. This happened on a previous visit as well so I’m not sure we’ll be back. The food was excellent so probably will.
