Step inside Il Fornaio and take a culinary journey through Italy. Early mornings bring rustic, crisp crusted bread hot from the oven accompanied by the scent of fresh brewed espresso. During lunch and dinner hours, pastas and flavorful sauces simmer while meats and vegetables roast over hot coals. Bottles of wine from small, regional wineries are uncorked to complement the dishes, which have been crafted in the custom of Italy's chefs, bakers and homemakers. Il Fornaio means "the Baker" in Italian. This award-winning restaurant offers an authentic and unique Italian dining experience. Specialties include wood-fired rotisserie and grilled meats, poultry and game; house made pastas; pizzas from an oak wood burning oven; fresh salads and house made soups; a wide variety of desserts; and fresh baked bread made daily from scratch.

    Went there for my wife's birthday. Hostess wished her a happy birthday but was never acknowledged by waitress or anybody else again. Food was very disappointing. Definitely not up to IL Fornaio standards . Have dined in Del Mar, Beverly Hills and Carmel. Much better.

    Noah was awesome. The food was good but not awesome. We were seated near a window as requested, thanks to the hosts and servers.

    We are long time customers of Il Fornaio in Coronado and usually enjoy our dinners here very much. Yesterday, the food was good, as well as the service, but the prices really took us aback. They have gone up significantly. May have to come here much less often or just get a pizza to go. unfortunate

    Restaurant was really nice. Food was amazing. Best service I’ve had in a very long time. Even gave us a complimentary desert for our anniversary! Definitely coming back.

    Our favorite place to watch the San Diego Boat Parade of lights. The food is tasty and the service reliable. A lovely experience with a wonderful view.

    We love your location and space and have eaten many times in the bar. I’ve been going to the Del Mar location periodically since it originally opened. This particular visit was nice and the staff quite pleasant but our experience could have been a little more “on point”. I brought an out of town guest this time and made a reservation ahead so we would have a table. Although we had a reservation, and arrived right on time, we ended up waiting just under 45 minutes to be seated. We were not in a rush so it wasn’t an issue just an annoyance. The manager offered to comp cocktails but we were not drinking alcohol that night so he offered to comp a dessert instead. This was very kind and appreciated and we ordered dessert but it was on the bill. We did not want to ask about it though. Overall the experience was a pleasant one but it fell a bit short. Thank you for reaching out to ask. I hope the feedback is of help.
